Using Stickers in Scrapbooking
Stickers are probably the easiest way to go if you are a beginning scrapbooker.
Maybe you just read my Why Scrapbook?
article and you don't want to keep your photos in magnetic albums anymore,
but just don't want to put in the effort for a big fancy book, a sticker
can add a little splash of creativity while just displaying your photos.
A scrapbook store can be a rather happy and inviting place. So thinking
of all the little darkies out there who maybe would prefer not to chat
with the new mom and her thousand pictures with all the explanations,
or the salespeople who have to know what your working on at all times,
I have put together some links to sticker manufactures that have created
stickers I find dark, unique, or generally usable by the underground crowd.

Dover Publications, Inc. creates little sticker books.
This is one is called "Elves and Fairies Stickers". All
their sticker books are $1 and easy to find in craft stores, book
stores, and card shops. They have their whole catalog online at DoverPublications.com.
If you want to find this 24-sticker book, it's ISBN is 0-486-27717-8 |
Frances Meyer designs some awsome stickers. They have
Halloween stickers, old fashioned pictures, themes like Chinese or
medieval, Victorian flowers and many other cool things. Just a hint,
scrapbook stores carry Halloween all year 'round. Obviously, they
have more that time of year, but you can find gloom at any time. "Your
one stop source for: stationery, stickers, scrapbooking, and a whole
lot more" can be found at FrancesMeyer.com.

Hallmark makes tons of package stickers. I believe that if you
want something Halloweeny, you would have to look during that holiday.
But you can shop online, or find a store near you through their
Web Site, Hallmark.com.

| John Grossman, I believe, is Mrs Grossman's ex. He creates
a line called The Gifted Line. They are all of a Victorian feel like
the sticker to the right. He doesn't have a Website but you can find
the stickers online and in scrapbook and card shops. Two places to
shop online are Cut
N Fun which offers a 15% discount to online shoppers, or The
Scrapbook Garden offers the entire collection. |

Well, if you're gonna mention Mr Grossman, you have
to bring up Mrs Grossman! She has some really cool stickers. For example,
make your own faces, sparkly faeries and castles, old fashioned cameras
and elegant or fun bubbles for journaling. If you're in Northern California,
you should check out the factory. After going on a tour, they let
you shop the factory store which I hear has everything! Mrs.
Grossmans Paper Company is located at 3810 Cypress Drive,Petaluma,
CA 94954. |
| PSX Design makes some very elegant fantasy stickers.
These two are SR6416 Asian Design and SR6406 Wonders of the Deep.
The stickers are on a clear background, so no ugly border shows on
your layout. You can purchase stickers online direct from PSXDesign.com
or find them at scrapbooking stores. |

Provo Craft makes some bubbly little creatures. I like the Halloween
stuff. A little happy, but hey, I'll buy it if it has a bat! They
don't sell direct, but their Web Site, ProvoCraft.com
will help you find stores or online shops to purchase their stuff.

Sandylion is a Canadian company that makes teeny tiny stickers.
They make tons of different things, including faeries and other
fantasy themes. The Web Site Sandylion.com
has their catalog online, but it doesn't look like you can buy direct
from them. Their stickers are really easy to find in stores everywhere.

In closing, many companies make some wonderful Victorian,
holiday, or fantasy stickers at least part of the time. The great
thing about scrapbooking is that the stores don't usually stick to
seasons when stocking. I like to just wander them occasionally and
buy what I see when I see it. That way, when I'm ready to scrapbook
an event, I have all of my darker themes already in my home and I
don't have to search needlessly for them. |
