Vifa Separate 2-Way Plus Sub Project
Here is a rendered image of the speakers I am currently planning.
The drivers I will most likely use are the Vifa P17WJ-00-08 6.5" poly cone woofer
and the Vifa D25AG-35-06 1" aluminum dome tweeter for the upper section.
The subwoofer section uses a Dayton 12" DVC subwoofer.
The enclosure walls of the upper section are 1.5" thick MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard).
The enclosure walls of the subwoofer section are 1.5" MDF thick with a 2.25" thick front baffle.
Both enclosures will be heavily braced with 1"+ diameter hardwood dowels.
The front, rear, and sides of the upper enclosure are tilted in
at an angle so that there are no parallel walls.
Outer dimensions of the upper enclosure are 16.5" H x 16" W x 19" D.
The internal air volume is .75 cu. ft.
There is a port in the rear of the enclosure with an internal diameter of 3"
and a length of 13.5" to tune the enclosure to 40Hz.
The outer dimensions of the subwoofer enclosure are 35" H x 16" W x 19" D.
The internal air volume is 3.5 cu. ft.
There are two 4" internal diameter ports with a length of 36.25" to tune the enclosure to 22Hz.
For a crossover, I will be using a series crossover design for the mid and tweeter
with a crossover frequency around 3kHz to 4kHz.
There will be an external crossover that splits the signal at 150Hz and gives the two signals to
separate amplifiers for the mid/tweeter and the subwoofer.
