Meeting time at
4pm works really well for teachers, not
necessarily working parents. Maybe “mix up” meeting times
every other month to allow more people to attend.
-
Hoe Down: Stage will be set up
with chairs on the perimeter of cafeteria; cool off place
with water and cookies – gym. Note for everyone to please
bring dry shoes.
-
Valentines
day party: Hot chocolate with pink marshmallows
instead of red punch; Julie – paper products. Donna and
Kristi will do party if Ann Marie can’t; snack – ice cream
scoops with sprinkles (lots of sprinkles leftover from last
party).
-
PTO e-mail: about 5 people
are signed up; we need someone in charge of sending e-mails
to the right people when questions are e-mailed by parents;
Amy C. needs ideas (maybe even a committee) for this venture
– what do parents want via e-mail? Possibly – fun night
flyers, newsletter link to the school website, PTO agendas;
pictures should not be posted here or on website (would need
parent permission for each individual picture). Also,
possible volunteer form on the PTO website to streamline the
volunteer information. The district has commissioned
Zoomerang to do a survey from
parents about where the school could improve. We can tag
some PTO questions on this survey if we wish.
-
The school is attempting to be
more green; however, pictures
should be printed in the newsletter instead of the website –
perhaps spending committee should look at a permanent PTO
board in a location that everyone can see – and have someone
as “school photographer” post pictures for kids to see on
the board.
-
Julie needs some information
on which teachers have used their $50.00 – the timing is
confusing for teachers and they are unsure if they have used
their money. A better system of tracking is needed to help
with the issue.
-
Box Tops have brought in $2000
this year – we really like the Box Tops sheets sent home for
kids.
-
Teachers request from spending
committee a software program that could scan information and
save it for the copier. Right now, the documents that are
saved cannot be changed – new program would allow changes to
be made.
-
February agenda will include a
fun night discussion for Apr/May – perhaps a movie night in
the high school auditorium (can seat 800). Perhaps
intermission with food and drinks – must check out the
licensing of a movie for this venue. A digital slide show
could be playing before the movie and during intermission.
-
Clarification – 5th
grade wore t-shirts to
recognition – these shirts were not for that day, they were
purchased for the 5th grade field trip.
Next meeting Tuesday, February 5th
at 7pm
