1991 - U/18 & U/16 Champions!

Hero for a day

Marsascala: National pool, the water was freeeeezing. All Sliema pitch and the senior team, which had just won the 1st division league, had come to see us play. We were playing Sirens in the under-16 Final (after beating Neptunes 4-1 in the semi-final). We were losing 3-2 with 10 seconds to go, a pass comes in from the right, I must have been on 8 to 10 metres away from goal, I shot, and the crowd went buzzing. To extra time we went and won the league - result 4-3. My friends insist the ball had accidentally slipped from my hand and ended in the back of the net. :-) I don't know about that, but its the goal I will never forget.

That same year we won the under-18 league to. We ended all square on points with Neptunes so we had to play a decider in which we drew 5-5. In the second decider we beat the scum 7-3.
