Valentines Day

Erin

"Lance! Do you want your Valentine?" Erin called to her best friend Lance Bass.
"Give me a minute! I've got to find yours!" He called looking frantically for hers. They were best friends who had known each other since kindergarten. They were both in the fourth grade now, but there friendship had not changed one little bit. They both lived in the town of Clinton, Mississippi, a town hardly known to the world.
Erin clutched the present she was going to give to Lance in her arms, while she waited on him to come down. She was growing impatient, but she was willing to wait any amount of time for her friend.
"Okay, I'm ready!" Lance shouted. He raced down the stairs with the gift he was going to give to Erin behind his back.
Erin smiled, eager to see her surprise. "Let's go outside and them to each other."
Lance nodded, and they both ran outside into the backyard. "I want to give you your present first." Lance said with a shy grin.
With her eyes closed and her hands out in front of her, Lance handed Erin her gift.
"Oh yay! Chocolates!" She screamed as she opened her eyes to see a heart shaped Russel Stover's box.
"That's not all." Lance said pulling out a card.
Erin grabbed it from him and looked at it. It was a funny shaped card with Scooby Doo on the front. Underneath Scooby's picture it said,
"Will you be mine?"
"Gross!" Erin exclaimed. "I don't want to be yours! That's sick!"
Lance nodded. "I know! It's the only card I could find with Scooby Doo on the front. I knew he was your favorite cartoon character, but what it says is sick!"
"Thanks anyway." Erin grinned. "Time for your surprise!"
"Hurry, I want to see it!" Lance said impatiently.
Erin quickly handed him a box of chocolates with a card taped on the top.
"Aw, thanks." He said with a smile as he opened the card. On the front was his favorite cartoon character, Taz. On the inside it said, "I love
you my Valentine!"
Lance looked away in disgust. "You love me? Gross!"
Erin sighed. "I had the same problem as you did. That was the only card I could find. I don't love you! That's sick! We are just friends."
"Yep, just friends!" Lance said backing away from Erin. "Besides, you have got the cooties!"
Erin smiled. "You can get my cooties, but I can't get yours!
Circle, circle, dot, dot, now I've got my cooty shot!"
"Yeah right, there's no such thing as a cooty shot!" Lance yelled chasing after her.
"And there's no such thing as cooties!" Erin's mother shouted to both of them from the backdoor. "Come in you two!"
They both stopped chasing after each other and walked towards the house. "Yep, we are just friends." Lance exclaimed.
Erin nodded. "And that's all we will ever be."
