These prima donnas possess that rare act that comes
along a few times in a generation. They are not a
usual studio production on the contrary these girls
write their own songs and play their own instruments
with such dexterity that they were born with
instruments attached to their bodies. Their album
Wide Open Spaces has sold more than any other band
in country music history.
When they were about to hit the top of the music charts with
singles like "Landslide" and "Travelin' Soldier,"
lead singer Natalie Maines uttered 15 words that
could have proved disastrous for the team. At a
concert in
England, Maines asserted that she is not in favor of
President Bush's decision to invade Iraq. Though the
incident was followed by apologies and redemption,
it raised doubts whether they will get their due
success or not. |
