David John Berndt is a PhD clinical psychologist. He presented and/or published internationally over 40 professional studies when he was at the University of Chicago, eventually obtaining the rank of Associate Professor of Clinical Psychiatry. He is best known as the author of the Multiscore Depression Inventory published by Western Psychological Services, and the children's version of the same instrument, coauthored with Dr. Charles Kaiser. For 7 years prior to moving to Washington DC he worked with and among the Cherokee Indians.
Dr. Berndt consults with families and individuals for a variety of life's problems. He does psychotherapy, family therapy, hypnosis, psychoanalysis, brief therapies, and psychological testing for all ages. His theoretical background is integrative and includes wholistic-transpersonal, interpersonal, behavioral, family systems, object relations, and other modalities, including story telling from the Native American traditions. Dr. Berndt also does coaching/mentoring of people who have more "normal problems", and are willing to work on getting a life closer to their dreams.
