I Ching, or Yi Jing, is a book, The Book of Changes, probably the oldest book known. It has been written in China, about 5000 years ago, and later it has been amply commented by taoist masters.
The oracle consists in buiding - by
throwing three coins, or by manipulating a set of bamboo sticks
- of a hexagram, something like this:
There are only 64 hexagrams, but each of the six lines can be of four types (yang fixed, yang mutable, yin fixed, yin mutable) and thus, an incredible variety of combinations of the messages of The Books results.
