Ferociousity - A Wolfen Character Sketch

Laborious breathing, heart thumping with anticipation, the lights go dim all over the landscape. The then creature begins to appear right before us. A large wolfen crawls slowly out of the dampness and into view. Drenched from the pouring rain and one of its legs badly mangled the creature plod on limping painfully, a look of anguish upon his brow. Gazing out he sees the group and shudders, but cannot focus enough energy to escape. Instead he collapses on the earth in sudden anguish falling violently into a fit of shock. The crowd circles the creature fearful and in awe all in the same, keeping their distance, but peering desperately to capture the essence of the beast. The fit lasts for a long time as he shakes and heaves repeatedly in his unconscious state. Nothing like this have ever been seen before. A creature so large and magnificent reduced to such a sorry state. But the crowd would do nothing to help. They would only sit watching, analyzing the creature as if it were some prize to be one. After a long period the fits finally relented and the creature again began to feel his body beneath him. One of the members of the group had fetched a stick as to prod the creature. As he would poke the creatures pain and anger would rise, but his energy so depleted would leave only shuddering. Until finally with one last burst he leapt up breaking the stick and knocking back the cowardly man. Rising onto his back legs he let out a enormous bellow shaking the entire forest. The group panicked and ran in all directions under the terrifying creature's gaze.

By now his eyes were glowing red with both fear and hate, darting back and forth over the forest edges. Crumpling under his own weight his strength dispersed he waited for his doom. It was slow in coming though. His wound was not extremely critical and his sickness was mainly do to the dampness and lack of nutrition. He had been on the move ever since he had received his wound knowing that those who would want to destroy him would not be far behind. But now his end was coming, he could feel it deep in his heart. With each breadth he could feel a little more life escape. Then the rumble started. Almost silent at first but then increasing with each moment into a humongous roar from the depths. There were a number of horn calls from all directions as the group made its retreat to safer grounds. Blaming this hellish calling as the creatures doing. So he lie alone as the roar came closer and closer until it seemed it was only over the distant hill. Fear recked his mind, eliminating his pain, but he could move no longer. His body had been drained of its last resources. He kept his eyes wide open fixed on the crest of the hill from where the noise came, waiting for his end. Then he saw it swoop almost gently over the top and glide down the other side. A giant chariot of fire floating over the landscape leaving scorched earth in its path. It was drawn by mighty rams of red blaze and upon the threshold stood the driver of his team. A beast of a man, whipping and cracking his team forward, his voluminous shoulders swayed back and forth. His hair was a deep red mane upon his head and his face was drenched with his own sweat. He stood a man divine above the earth, above all those about him. Its roar and flame set fire to the forest about him leaving a long passage of charred landscape in his wake.

So the wolfen saw this incomprehensible sight before him as it rolled through disappearing again over the horizon. His eyes swollen now from the blaze and lungs heaving from the smoke he began to lose consciousness in the flames. With one last burst he rose and threw himself over a rock face, falling and hitting a muddy bottom, collapsing into oblivion.
