Sara looked at her watch and swore. she was late and Patricia would surely give her another long talk on punctuality. She ran by Patricia's secretary and stopped right in front of the door. She fixed her hair before opening it quickly and stepping in. And immedietly froze.
The Backstreet Boys were in various positions around the room and they all smiled as she entered. Sara knew they were probably just like regular guys but she couldn't get passed the fact that they didn't have regular jobs.
"Uh...sorry I'm late," Sara said after she got her composure back. "I know I promised I'd be on time but...I don't have an excuse."
Patricia smiled. "It's okay Sara. The boys called this little get together." She turned to the boys so they could continue.
"We just wanted to say thank you, Pat told us how you were the one to talk the group into opening for us," Kevin said like he rehearsed it.
"Uh...no problem," Sara said slowly.
There was a small silence but it was interrupted by Brian.
"The truth is, you saved us a lot of hours on finding another group. We are truly excited to have you opening for us and I would like to say thank you," he said making Sara blush.
"It was really nothing. I'm serious when I say that you don't have to thank me. I should thank you for offering me this chance, Carpe Diem this chance to prove we are good and have talent. Thank you," Sara said looking between Brian and Patricia.
Brian smiled at her and said something but Sara couldn't hear anything. Everything drifted away and all Sara could think about was Brian's smile. It was gorgeous.
Sara jumped when Janice came over the intercom.
"Pat, Mr. Jorgen on line one. It's about the video shoot tomorrow." Pat smiled and picked up the phone eagerly. "Hello Mr. Jorgen, what can I do for you?"
Sara sighed and stood up and walked towards the window. She jumped again when A.J. said something from behind her.
"So is that your video shoot she's talking about?" "Well yeah, Carpe Diem's video shoot anyway," Sara said facing him.
"Fast or slow song?" Nick asked curiously.
"Slow song," Sara said smiling at him. "And before you ask, it's called Beautiful Goodbye."
Kevin, Brian and Howie walked over to join the conversation. "Who wrote it?" Brian asked scratching his forehead.
"Actually, Kayla and Kristen wrote the words and Max Martin helped with the music," Sara said proud of her friends.
"Will it be a song you'll sing on tour?" Kevin asked thoughtfully.
"Probably, why?" Sara asked eyeing all of them.
Howie noticed the look in her eyes and chuckled. "We're just being curious Sara, that's all. No need to worry. We come off as over bearing but our bark is worse than our bite."
Sara nodded her head. "Oh, okay then. But hey, if you're really curious, why not come to the video shoot on Saturday. You can check out our acting ability as well as our song. It will be really cool to have you guys there."
"We don't want to intrude," Brian said shaking his head.
"Intrude, c'mon, it'll be fun. Please!" Sara said giving them the puppy dog face.
"Okay, you've twisted our leg," Brian said turning Sara's frown upside down.
"Sara, do you want to hear the final concept for the video of Beautiful Goodbye?" Patricia asked interrupting their conversation.
"Yeah," Sara said excited.
"You are going to play the girl who had the break-up with the guy. It mostly takes place at school but there's also a shot of you guys on the beach. Throughout the video you'll give the guy sad, lost looks and the rest of Carpe Diem will play your friends in the video. I know it sounds like you are the main part of the song but you do sing most of the song," Patricia explained. "So, do you like it?"
Sara thought about the concept and how har it would be to act out the sad little girl, especially when her life was going so great. She had never been an actress but had always dreamed about it. This video would be a new challenge.
"Yeah, it's good. I like it," Sara said giving Pat a smile.
"Good, because there isn't time ot come up with a new one," Pat said making everybody laugh. "Now, report to Clidsdale High School Saturday and be awake."
"What time do we have to be there?" Sara asked praying it wasn't really early.
"5 a.m." "Now way! There is no such time," Sara said making everybody laugh harder. "You're joking. Please tell me you're joking."
"Sorry, but Carpe Diem must be there at 5 a.m.," Patricia said not looking very sorry at all.
It was 5 more minutes before Sara left her office, without changing the scheduled time.
