"Here you go," Dani said handing him his pop.
Wade smiled his thanks. "So, yeah."
Dani sat down on the chair to his left. "What brings you here? I thought you were mad at us?"
Wade sighed. "I'm disappointed not mad. You guys are grown-ups and you are acting like high schoolers. Imature ones. But that's not why I came over."
"Hope not, because it's kinda rude to be a guest and call the hostess imature," Dani said looking ticked.
"Shit, this isn't going to work," Wade said standign up.
"What?" Dani said confused. "You are really confusing me."
Wade sighed. "It's just...I told them I'd mess it up."
"Mess what up," Dani said staring at him.
"Asking you out. I'm not suave or cool about it. I worry for hours until it accidently falls out and...it just did," Wade said feeling his face heat up.
"Sorta," Dani said a smile spreading across her face.
"Well," Wade said hopefully.
"Well, what?" Dani said pretending she had no idea what he was asking.
"Do yo uwant to go out with me?" Wade sounded like he was scared. Dani had no idea why he was scared. She was definitely going to say yes.
"Wade, I'd be glad to go out with you," Dani said truthfully. "But when? I am kinda busy with rehearsal. Plus, when I'm done rehearsing there's some party to attend or Pat needs us to check out something."
"How 'bout tomorrow, after rehearsal?" Wade questioned smiling.
"I'm suppose to have lunch with Pat and the girls. She wants to discuss our next album," Dani explained rolling her eyes.
"What if I cacn convince Pat to excuse you from the lunch date?" Wade suggested.
Dani smiled. "I'd do anything." At Wade's sly smile she hurried to explain. "Not anything exactly. But I will go out to lunch with you."
"That's good," Wade said standing up again. There was silence for a moment and then he sighed. "Well, I better go. You do have an early rehearsal tomorrow."
Dani walked him to the door and saw him off. After he had pulled away and Dani had shut the door, she began to scream. She had a date with Wade. She had ot call someone, but who? Being mad at your Best Friend sucked.
"You up," Brian said knocking on the door.
It had been real late the night before when they had all gotten done talking, so Brian had let Sara stay in one of his gurest rooms.
"Yeah," Sara called then looked around. "Well, sorta."
Brian was chuckling as he opened the door. "You're lazy, I've been up for a good fifteen minutes."
Sara rolled her eyes. "Can I call in sick? I mean, it's not like anyone is really going to miss me there. They are all mad at me."
"I know for a fact Kayla isn't mad at you. Why else would she be on her way over here to be with you when you arrive at the warehouse," Brian said sitting down beside her.
"Everyone else is," Sara said feeling sorry for herself. "Well, anyways, I don't care anymore."
Brian stared at her. She let everybody think she didn't care what people thought of her when in reality, she cared deeply. You could clearly see the pain from her friend's anger on her face.
"What?" Sara asked softly.
"It hurts," Brian said just as softly. "Not caring, doesn't it?"
Sara knew even before she felt the tears well up behind her eyes, that she wasn't coing to be able to not cry this time. She was just thankful that Brian was there to wrap his arms asround her and for a couple minutes, make the outside world go away.
"I need this," Sara said wiping away some tears. "I need you."
Brian gave her a smile and pulled her head to his chest. I need you wasn't exactly I love you, but it was close. "And I need you."
Sara let him hold her for a couple more seconds before she pulled away and got off the bed. She walked over to the dresser and looked into the mirror that was attached. "I looke like crap."
"No," Brian said standing up and walking over ot her. "You look beautiful. My clothes look much better on you."
Sara looked down at the blue boxers and the old Kentucky Wildcat's t-shirt he had loaned her. "Somehow I don't agree."
Brian smiled and ave her a quick kiss. "You can get dressed and brush your teeth. I layed out a new toothbrush and some toothpaste. Kayla is bringing some clothes for you to wear."
Sara tuned out as he went on to explain some more. He was so sweet. Sara smiled. "Can I come back here after rehearsal? Well after the lunch with Pat?"
Brian smiled. "Of course. I should be here, but on the chance that I'm not, there's a key under the mat."
Sara nodded. "Okay."
Fifteen minutes later she was dressed and ready to go. She went downstairs and gave a waiting Kayla a hug. "Thanks for the clothes."
Kayla rolled her eyes. "They are yours, you must have left them in my room. I do not wear a size small."
Sara yawned. "Well, we better go. I'd hate to have to do push ups because we are late." She made her way to the door and gave a waiting Brian a hug. "See ya later."
"Have a nice rehearsal!" he yelled before he shut the door.
They were pulling out of the driveway when Kayla gave her a teasing smile. "So you guys seem really...close."
Sara blushed but felt a grin coming. "I think I'm in love." At Kayla's shocked glance she shrugged her shoulders. "I know, I know. We haven't been together for that long but he is just...perfect for me. I'd be going crazy without him right now."
"He told me on the phone that you cried last night," Kayla said quietly.
"And this morning, I'm an emotion mess," Sara said looking sad.
"You're entitled," Kayla said clenching her hands on the steering wheel. She could hurt Dani and Kristen right now.
They rode the rest of the way in silence. Sara tensed up when they reached the warehouse. She was so not looking forward to this.
Kayla entered first and Sara followed her slowly. Wade was stretching with Kristen and Dani.
"Get stretched out," Wade called to them. "We start in five."
Sara nodded and began stretching her protesting muscles. It had been too long since she'd been active.
"I'm going to go apologize," Dani said determinely.
"Why? Shouldn't she apologize?" Kristen said confused.
"Yes but I should first. I was a bitch yesterday," Dani pointed out. "Besides, it's bad to hold grudges."
"Some grudges are meant to be held," Kristne said dismissing the conversation.
"And some people are way too pig-headed to realize when they are wrong," Wade said before he stood and walked away.
"He's an asshole. Why do you like him?" Kristen asked making a face.
"Because," Dani said simply.
"That's not an answer," Kristen said staring at her.
"He's nice," Dani said saying hte first thing that came to mind.
"Which translated means hot," Kristen said smiling.
"That too," Dani said smiling back.
"Lets go!" Wade yelled. As soon as they surrounded him. "We have a lot of work to do. I need to review all of your dances."
They all nodded and Wade went to lean against the wall and started the music to Same Old Story.
They had ran through all of their songs in 45 minutes and Wade looked pleased. "You guys are doing a great job. But now I need all of you to sit down."
He sat with them and looked at each one of them before continueing. "You guys have great talent. You could go far in this business if you guys work hard. But if you fight like you are right now, it won't happen. You need to be like family, your own family."
Sara looked at the floor while everyone else stared at him.
"No, I have no clue what Sara did. Maybe it was something horrible, but ask yourself this. Is it worth losing the band?" Wade asked.
Dani shook her head no for the whole group. "I personally want to apologize to Sara. I was out of line yesterday."
Sara smiled softly. "No you weren't. I haven't been a very good friend. I'm sorry that I have been self-involved. Holidays do that to me."
Everybody turned to Kristen and she looked confused. "What? I have nothing to say."
Wade sighed. "Go home, showere. Pat expects you at Jive at eleven." Dani looked at him curiously as everyone stood up. "I can kidnap you at noon."
Dani smiled as she walked away with Kristen. Today was going to be fun.
