Chapter 7

"Sara, you look hot girl! Took you long enough to arrive!" AJ exclaimed making Sara grin.P> "Sorry, I had an imprtant phone call," she apologized.

AJ just waved her apology away. "Just follow me to the kitchen and I'll hook you up with a soda or something. Whatever you want, I should ahve it."

Sara entered the kitchen and smiled when seh saw Brian fixing himself a drink. He looked so cute in his blue jeans and black t-shirt.

"Hey Brian, make Sara a drink. I have to go...do something," he said giving Brian a wink.

Sara watched AJ leave before turning back to Brian. "So...what wre you having?"

"Just a coke on ice, do you want the same?"

Sara made a face. "No thanks, I'll just have water." At Brian's skeptical glance she chuckled. "i'm serious, you don't know how good an ice water sounds right now."

Brian shrugged before getting a glass down from the cuboard. "Who was the important phone call?"

"Excuse me," Sara said suprised.

"Sorry, I just overheard you tell AJ an important phone call kept you away. I was just curious, didn't mean to be nosy." Brian handed her the glass of water.

"Oh, it's okay, it was just my...my mom," Sara said softly.

"Family, that would be an improtant phone call," Brian said leaning against the counter. "Is she like my mom, who calls 3 times a week?"

Sara gave him a half smile. "No, more like once a month. My parents don't exactly approve of my career choice."

Brian watched as she moved towards AJ's patio doors. She was obviously upset of her parents disproval, anyone would be.

"Sorry, to bring it up," Brian said just as softly.

"It's okay," Sara said. She would have said more but she was interrupted by Kristen's shriek and everybody's laughter. Nick had just thrown her into the pool. Sara laughed and shook her head. This is exactly what she needed.

"Truth or Dare Kayla?" AJ asked slyly.

"No way, I hate that game! And I am not playing," Kayla said rolling her eyes.

They were all outside sitting around a small bonfire. It was almost 10 and the girls had spent the whole day there.

"C'mon, how else will we get to know eachother?" AJ whined.

Dani rolled her eyes. "Then lets just ask eachother questions. Truth or Dare isn't a great way to get to know eachother. Nobody tells the truth and how do you get to know someone from a dare?"

"She's got a point. And I actually like the questions thing better myself," Kevin said squeezing Kirsten's hand.

Kirsten smiled at him. "And I have the first question. What made you guys want to become singers?"

Dani smiled. "I actually didn't want to at first. I wanted to be a lawyer. But they talked me into it. And I'm thankful I amde the choice."

"Not me. I knew I wanted to sing since age 3. I was always making up tunes in my head. I drove my parents and teachers nuts," Kayla said making them chuckle.

"What about you Kristen?" Nick asked curiously.

"My parents could tell at an early age that I could go places. So I was in singing lessons, choir, and any talent contest I could be in."

Sara saw everybody turn to look at her. "Gee, is it my turn already? Well, I started singing in high school with my fellow friend Kayla. I dont' know when I decided to pursue it, I just did. I think it was just something that I had to do."

Kevin nodded his head like he agreed. "Well, you all have amazing talent so that helps."

"When you left Bemidji, did you leave anyone behind? Like a boyfriend, or best friend that you miss?" Howie asked.

"I left my parents, which is hard all on it's own," Kayla said.

"I left my parents and close friends, but that's it," Dani said shrugging her shouders.

"My parents and well, I broke up with my boyfriend before I left. It was easier that way," Kristen explained. "A lot easier."

"I left my parents and my boyfriend too," Sara said looking into the fire.

There was a moment of silence before AJ broke it.

"Favorite food," he said quickly. At all the strange looks he had to defend himself. "I'm sorry, but I want to know. you can tell a lot by a persons favorite food."

"I like speghetti," Kristen said smiling.

"I like anything fast food," Kayla said.

"Cinnamon toast crunch," Dani said making everybody laugh.

"I love string cheese," Sara said seriously.

"I meant as in meals," AJ said giving her a look.

"I eat string cheese for meals. And I am not joking," Sara said giving him a look right back.

"Moving on," Nick said. "Favorite movie?"

"Clueless," Dani said laughing. All the girls joined in. "Sorry, but we have some fond memories of that movie."

"Mine is Bring It On! There is no other movie that can compare!" Sara said.

"You mean that dumb cheerleading movie. It had no plot what-so-ever!" Nick said making a face.

"IT IS SO NOT DUMB!" Sara exclaimed.

"uh oh, you made a mistake. No one disses Bring It On. Sara gets upset," Dani said putting an arm around her.

"Okay, I like the movie Castaway," Kristen said. Kayla ended up agreeing with her.

"Well, it's now time for us to head home. We leave for New York tomorrow," Dani said before somebody could ask another question. "And if Pat knew we were out like this, she would personally murder each of us and you guys. So we are going to head out."

They all exchanged goodbyes and plans to get together as soon as they got back.
