Sometimes you say the smallest thing, or smile, and it makes my entire day better.

Chapter 26

Kayla was the first to enter the limo and she was immedietly hit with a peanut M&M. "Ouch! Who threw that?"

Nick looked guilty with his face bright red. "Sorry Kayla, I meant to hit Brian."

Kayla sat down next to AJ and layed her head down on his chest. "Tired?" he asked whispering.

She whook her head no. "The asshole threw a fricken M&M and it hit me on the forehead." When AJ started to smile she smacked his arm. "It really hurt."

"Okay, who threw and M&M?" Kristen asked confused. She had just entered the limo and chose to sit between Nick and Howie.

'Uh...I did but like I said earlier, I meant to hit Brian," Nic kexplained again.

"Why were you trying to hurt Brian?" Kristen asked.

"He said I have a bubble butt and I do not have a bubble butt! My butt is extremely cute," Nick complained glaring at Brian.

Kayla began to chuckle. "I'm sorry Nick, but I agree with Brian. You have a bubble butt. Although, why Brian is checking out your ass, I don't wanna know."

"Why are you checking out his ass?" AJ aksed Kayla pretending to be hurt.

"I'm a girl, I have ever right to check out a guys ass. You check out girls," Kayla said snuggling into his side.

"Hey, there has always been 4 of you. We're missing one. Where's Dani?" Howie asked confused.

"Where's Kevin for that matter?" Brian asked.

"Kirsten showed up and we gave him the night off. Husband and wife need some time alone," Kayla said winking.

"OOh, Kevin gonna get some," AJ said smirking.

"What about Dani?" Howie asked again.

"She didn't want to come," Sara said. Everybody looked at her. "I mean, she's really tired and not feeling well. She didn't want to make anyone else accidently sick."

"I'll tell her thanks tomorrow," Nick ksaid smiling.

Brian watched as Sara turned away from the group and stared out the window. He could have sworn that he saw a tear run down her face.

"Hey, you okay?" he asked from his posistion by her.

"I'm fine," Sara said giving him a smile. It was forced and Sara knew he could tell but she really didn't care."

"Are you sure?" Brian asked so no one could hear him but her. "You look kinda upset."

Sara glared at him. "I said I was fine," she said annoyed that he kept pushing.

Brian immedietly backed off. He didn't want to piss her off. Hopefully she would tell him eventually and he would understand. Or at least try to understand.

They cheered when the limo stopped. "Food!" Nick yelled. Kristen rolled her eyes, he was always exxcited about food.

Sara followed the group in slowly. She couldn't get her arguement with Dani out of her mind. She really wanted to have good time but didn't see how that was possible.

"So, you fought with Dani," Brian said falling instep beside her.

"How did you know?" Sara asked confused.

Brian gave her a little smiel. "Kayla told AJ who told me. I'm sorry you two had a fight, aren't you two like best friends.

Sara nodded sadly. "I hate when we fight. It just makes more sense to get along but it's like Dani picks fights. I don't understand her sometimes. I wish she was easier to get along with."

"No you don't, yuou may wish to understand her better but I doubt you would change her. There had to be something you liked about her to have her as your friend. Best friend," Brian said sitting down beside her at the long table.

"Yeah, you're right, again," Sara said smiling. She shook her head," are you always right?"

"No, I'm wrong once in a long while. But rarely ever," he said winking at her.

"Is Brian bragging about himself?" Nick asked overhearing the last part of their conversation.

"Yeah but he has a lot to brag about," Sara said blushing when everybody oohed.

"Already defending out B'Rok. Man Sara, he already has you worshiping him," Kayla teased.

Kristen laughed. "And to think, Sara never defended Scott." She saw Sara's face go pale and she stopped. Maybe talking about Scott wasn't such a good thing.

"AH...yeah...AJ," Nick said noticing Sara's discomfort. "Who are you on the phone with?"

AJ turned off his cell phone and smiled at him. "Wouldn't you like to know. But sorry bro, none of your business."

"Is it any of my business?" Kayla asked eyebrows raised.

"No, well, not really," AJ said truthfully. They stared at one another for a couple moments before Kayla looked away. AJ leaned over and whispered in her ear, "you don't have to worry about it. It was just Wade."

Kayla looked confused; why was he calling their choreographer? As far as she knew, they had never had an actual conversation.

Dinner went smoothly with lots of talk about the VMA's and the rest of the tour. The girls were excited for the approaching awards show, well the guys, who were up for best song and viewer's choice, were more nervous about being up against N'Sync in both categories.

"You guys will do fine. Anybody with half a brain knows you ahve more talent then N'Sync," Kayla said trying to reassure them>

"Well, it doesn't really matter how much talent we have, I wish it did but it doesn't. How many fans you have, especially in the Viewere's Choice category, really matters," Brian said looking sad about it. "The music doesn't matter as much anymore."

Sara placed her hand on his thigh. "But as long as their are people out there like you guys, preaching that it's about the music, the world isnt' all that bad."

It was quite then. Everybody thinking about Sara's comment.

"Lets dance," Brian said holding his hand out for Sara to take. She made her way to the center of the dance floor.

Everybody soon followed with the exception of Howie who stayed at the table. He hated being alone but every advance he made towards Dani was denied. She was most likely not interested and he should move on. But something held him back.

Dani slowly walked, well limped, toward the fountain that sat in the middle of the yard behind the hotel. The fountain was gorgeous, with an angel reaching toards the sky. It looks like there was something just out of reach. Just like in Dani's own life.

She wiped away a tear as she sat down on the foutain ledge. She had been crying for most of the night. She despised tears, probably because she considered them a weakness. And Dani was not weak. She never had been and never would be. Crying didn't solve anything, and it was pathetic. But something tonight had let down her defenses.

Sara's lecture had hurt. No matter which way she looked at it, the words and glares had hurt. Dani knew some of what she said was true but some of it was wrong.

Dani hadn't been a friend to Sara latly. Especially earlier today, she had been an outright bitch. She would even go so far to say Sara had been patient but so had Dani. Sara was really preoccupied with the whole Brian situation. Sara had rarely talked about anything else.

Dani looked up at the sky. The stars were magnificant. You could see them clearly and they made her smile.

She'd have to talk with Sara or at least try to. Sara was sometimes completely stubborn and wouldn't listen. Dani would probably have to force Sara to listen but sometimes, and especially in this case, it was worth it. Sara was her best friend, and Dani couldn't not apologize.

"There you are," a voice said breaking into her thoughts.

Dani smiled. "Here I am."

Wade walked toward her. "AJ gave me a call. Told me you rejected their dinner invitation. Would you mind if I asked why?"

"Yes I would mind," Dani said looking back at the sky. "Do you know what that concellation is?"

Wade looked to where she pointed. "No, what is it?"

"I don't know, I was asking you," Dani said shaking her head at his misunderstanding.

Wade stared at her for a moment. She was beautiful. With her brownish blonde hair. Even in sweats and with red rimmed eyes, she was beautiful.

He sat down beside her. "Well, I do know a couple constellations. See right there," Wade said pointing to a section of the sky. "There's the big dipper and oh, the little dipper."

Dani glanced at him and she couldn't help but chuckle. "I think everybody knows where those two are." she looked back at the sky.

Wade nodded but his mind was on getting Dani to open up. Even after knowing her for months, he knew that was impossible if she didn't want to talk. He could force it out of her but he didn't want to. He wanted her to tell him on ehr own.

"You're thinking pretty hard," Dani commented quietly. "You want to talk about it?"

"That's my question. Do you want to talk about it?" he asked, praying she'd say yes.
