Chapter 11

"Um...Kristen, are you okay?" Nick asked buckleing his seat belt like the flight attendent told them too.

"Are we going to crash?" Kristen asked him through clenched teeth.

"No," Nick said confused.

"How can you be sure?" Kristen worried.

"Do you realize how many times I have ridden a plane and it hasnt' crashed yet. So, I don't think we have to worry," Nick said giving her a smile.

"Now you've jinxed it! Now we'll crash for sure," Kristen whined.

"Why are you so worried?" Nick asked curiously.

"I hate heights! They terrify me. And now I am on a plane, which is thousands of feet in the air. I mean, why did I get on the plane? This can only end in a tragedy!" Kristen said gripping the armerests of her chair.

Nick was watching her throughout her whole speecha nd he leaned over and kissed her. He felt her shock but then, slowly, he felt her respond. The kiss was soft, not demanding and it was sweet.

"That...uh," Kristen said staring at him.

"Yeah," He said softly staring back.

Kristen took a deep breath. "Wow! No one has ever calmed me down that way before."

Nick smiled. "Glad to have been your first."

"I'm glad it was you too," Kristen said softly.

They stared at eachother before they leaned in and kissed for a second time. This time the kiss was longer and they were both more involved.

Kayla groaned as she felt AJ sit down next to her.

"Hey Kayla, what's going on in your life?" AJ asked giving her his sexy smile.

"Nothing," she said not even looking up from her notebook.

"What ya working on?" he asked trying to look over her shoulder.

"I'm writing down ways that would make you go away," Kayla said finally looking at him.

"Well, damn," AJ said looking confused. "You're mad at me?"

"Yes, I am. You helped dye Dani's hair," Kayla said glaring at him.

"Sooo," AJ said dragging the word out.

"You should have told us," Kayla said going back to her notebook.

"Why shoudl I have? It's her hair," AJ said shrugging his shoulders.

"Because it effects Carpe Diem and it was a choice for her to make on her own," Kayla said seriously.

"But it's her hair! Do you really believe if you guys had said no to her she wouldn't have done it. You can't possibly believe that," AJ said. "SHe would have done it anyways."

"I guess we'll never know," Kayla said coldly.

"You blame me," AJ said coming to that realization.

"She couldn't have done it without your help," Kayla reminded him.

AJ stared at her for a moment. "I can't believe you blame me. That's ridiculous Kayla. You are being ridiculous."

Kayla stood up and began walking towards the back of the plane.

"Where are you ogin?" AJ asked still angry.

"Away from you," was all he catched but he knew she had said more. He watched as she sat down besides Kevin and Kirsten. She didn't even bother to glance at him. She sure was pissed.

"Here's the htel and these are the room assignments," Pat said holding out keys. "Sara and Dani, Kayla and Kristen, Brian and Nick, Howie and AJ, Kevin and Kirsten. Got it? No switching rooms."

Sara grabbed her duffel and walked towards the stairs.

"Sara, where are you going? The elevators are right her," Brian said sounding confused.

"We won't all fit and the stairs are right here," Sara explained.

Dani watched her walk away and took a deep breath. They had to talk. She missed her best friend. Sara was always the first one to apologize, basically because she couldn't stand being at odds with people. But not this time. Dani was going to do the apologizing. It was time for her to make amends. But that was easier said than done.

Sara was sitting on the bed closest to the window. She was flipping through the tv channels pretending she cared what was on.

Dani set her duffle at the end of her bed and gave Sara a small smile. "The room is nice."

Sara barely glanced at her before returning to the tv.

"So...um...can we talk?" Dani asked hopefully. When Sara didn't bother to answer she continued. "There's a lot that's been said and I-"

"I'm not ready for this," Sara interrupted. She stood up and paced in front of Dani. "I'm angry still and I'm not ready for an apology yet. I don't think I'd believe you if you told me you were sorry."

Dani sighed. "Sara, we need to talk about it."

"Not now," Sara said glaring at her before she turned to leave.

Dani watched, once again, as Sara walked away from her and she swore as the door closed.

Sara was very close mouthed about herself. She didn't express her feelings all the time, especially when she needed to most. She would open up eventually, to Dani or her older sister. But since they had moved to Florida, she told Dani everything. This had been the first serious fight they had had in a long time.

Dani still believed that they all should have stood up for her, especially Sara, but she also should have warned them. Talked to them about it before doing something drastic.

(Meanwhile)

AJ groaned as all hte guys gathered in Howies' and his hotel room. He wasn't in the mood to talk about anything. Definitely not Carpe Diem and there problems.

"They aren't fighting," Nick explained. "They are just arguing about Dani's hair. Which, by the way, I think looks awesome."

"So do I," Brian said smiling. "It's different but after getting to kow the girls, Dani's different."

"But they are still not getting along," Kevin said going back to the main problem.

"So, we don't always get along either," AJ said covering his face with his hands. "I say let them get over it on their own."

"I agree, they could get mad if we try to interfere," Howie agreed.

Kevin sighed. "Fine but if it's not settled soon. We, as in all of us, will have a talk with them."

"NOw, since the boring crap is out of the way. Nick, it seems you and Kristen got real cozy during the plane ride. That is, if I remember correctly," Brian teased.

Nick felt his face flush. "You saw?"

"Yeah, along with Pat, SAra, KEvin, Kristen and Howie. We all saw the game of tonsil hockey going on. What we all want to know now, what does this mean for you and Kristen?" Brian asked.

"I don't know, that stuff on the plane wasn't planned. It just happened. I don't know what to do," Nick said looking at his hands.

"Go with the flow man," AJ advised.

"He speaks!" Howie joked.

'Yeah, what's made you so crabby?" Nick asked glad the spotlight was off him.

AJ glared at all of them. They may all be his best friends but some things were none of their business. He didn't want them involved with Kayla and him. That was his problem and his problem alone.

"Kayla's mad at you, isn't she?" Kevin asked quietly. He already knew the answer but he wanted him to admit it.

"Why would Kayla be mad at Bone?" Nick asked confused.

"He helped Dani with her hair and the girl's arent' exactly thrilled with the new do. It's common sense Kayla would place some blame on him," Kevin explained hitting the nail on the head.

AJ didn't say a word but everybody knew Kevin spoke the truth. Knowing AJ probably wanted to have some time alone, they all clreared out, including Howie. AJ was happy once they were gone. Now he could wallow in self-pity by himself.
