Welcome to  the Virago suspension  page.

I take it out for a ride and it doesn't handle very well. As the front tire is nearly bald, I figure that must be the culprit. The replacement is better, but not the problem. So I try the rear tire, same story. It seems to have a hard time crossing double yellow lines also. I check the alignment and it's very close, but it's not like it turns better one way than the other. Somehow I get on this kick that the fork oil is the problem. I drop by the dealer to buy fork oil, 3 brands and 6 weights of oil, hmmm.

I get home from work after going through this in my mind all day thinking DON'T FORGET to bleed off the air pressure. So what do I do? Go out and remove the drain screw, oil sprays all over my new paint job, me and my Chevelle parked next to it! SOMETIMES my intelligence exceeds my shoe size, obviously this was not the time. I drain and fill as per the manual from that point. Add the correct air pressure and dampening settings and off I go. Words just cannot explain the difference fork oil made. As for the scotchbrite job? There is no oil burning whatsoever, and now that I took it to Americade (over 300 miles one way) and 9000 miles since the repairs, I'd say I did ok. If your curious as to the investment, there's approx. $950 in this bike as you see it. I will be adding to this site as I make changes to the bike.
