It’s hard
to convey death in a TVY setting, which is too bad because it’s so essential to
many of the stories in this series. What are we to do?

Written by Jared

BLACK SCREEN
We have several seconds of silence before a
sudden Gunshot SFX.
The first Gunshot is quick and loud, followed
by a crashing sound effect and then two more gun shots one right after the
other.
Cut to
Int – POLICE VAN
JERRY WILLIAMS sits next to a DETECTIVE at a
radio desk inside the van. Jerry looks over at the detective.
Jerry
What happened?
The Detective stops messing with the radio
equipment, whips off his head set and tosses it on the desk. He turns to the
back of the van where three SWAT TEAM MEMBERS are sitting, waiting for his word
with large, automatic weapons.
Detective [forcedly]
Go! Now!
The front-most SWAT team member (number one)
reaches to a latch on the van and swings the door open, jumping out. The two
members behind him follow, revealing an URBAN STREET CORNER. They run along the
sidewalk quickly around to the front of an obviously run-down APARTMENT
BUILDING.
BACK TO THE VAN
Jerry takes off his headset, and stands up.
He looks over at the detective, who is readying his own revolver and climbing
out of the van.
Jerry [nervously]
What happened?!
Detective
It went bad, kid!
Let’s go!
Jerry follows the detective and takes out his
semi-automatic pistol. He hops out of the van and runs a little faster than the
detective to catch up with him.
Jerry
What did you mean,
bad? Is she okay?
The two make their way around the corner to
see the SWAT team ready to kick in the door. The detective nods to them, giving
them the go-ahead, and they kick it down. Shards are thrown around the room and
a woman in the hallway screams as she backs up against the wall.
The team makes their way to the staircase,
storming up as fast as they can. They exit frame and the camera sticks on Jerry
and the Detective, who are moving slightly slower. They put their guns to their
sides as they begin their trek up the steps. The Detective slows to a near
stop, and takes Jerry by the arm.
Detective
Don’t be surprised,
Jerry.
Jerry nods and looks down. They begin their
move back up the stairs.
Cut to:
Level Three
The SWAT team members reach a door along the
staircase which reads “Level 3” in aged black lettering. The front-most stops
and signals to the other two to stand ready. He counts down from three to zero
silently with his fingers, and then kicks down the door. The three bolt into the
hall, and turn the left corner to face a corridor of apartments.
They sprint toward the apartment they’re
looking for,
Cut to:
Jerry and the Detective reach level three,
and run toward the apartment. Upon reaching it they find the three SWAT members
meeting up in the living room empty handed. Jerry spots the dead woman and
grimaces, looking away and nearly buckling to the ground.
Detective
Where’d he go?
SWAT Leader
He’s not here, sir.
Jerry recovers, and looks down the corridor.
He spots another open apartment door, 3H and points his gun at it.
Jerry
There…
Jerry begins to take off toward the door and
bursts in, finding the living room just as empty as the other. He looks briefly
into the equally abandoned kitchen, and then moves into the bed room, his gun
drawn. He finds nothing except a clean bed and an open window. The drapes are
swaying inward from the gusts. Jerry moves toward it and finds it leading to
the fire escape. He peaks his head out and looks toward the street.
The camera cuts to reveal a man in a black
jacket and loose clothing climbing down the fire escape. He’s very nearly
toward the bottom of the building.
Jerry
Hey!
Jerry raises his gun and attempts to shoot
the runner, but stops when he realizes that he can not fire a clean shot
through the bars and ladders of the fire escape. He holsters it and climbs out
the window in an effort to chase the runner.
The camera cuts briefly to show the runner
reach the bottom of the fire escape and jump down. He takes off toward the
street, causing a car to halt suddenly.
Jerry climbs down the already lowered fire
escape for a few seconds, and then decides to shimmy down. He places his hands
on opposite sides of the ladder, and then brings his feet to the sides as well.
He slides down to the second floor, and then does the same on the next ladder,
dropping down at the end.
The runner reaches the alleyway on the
opposite side of the road and disappears inside. Jerry takes out his gun and
raises it toward the runner’s direction, and then takes off across the road. There
are no cars in his path.
The runner reaches a trashcan in the shadowed
alley and pushes it over behind him, attempting to slow Jerry down. He then
reaches an urban court yard and pauses for a moment. There are basketball goals
and benches, but it too is empty. There are four alleys to choose from,
including the one from which he came.
Jerry trips on the
trash and stumbles onto one knee. He is injured, and gets up. He limps his way
toward the courtyard.
Upon reaching it Jerry finds nothing, spying
only the empty courtyard and the three remaining alleyways. He pauses and
inhales deeply.
A single shot goes off, and the bullet
impacts the brick wall behind Jerry. He blinks and ducks, and then moves behind
a park bench, seeing the alley the shot came from. He raises his own pistol and
takes a shot at the alley, followed by another shot from the runner. Jerry
lifts his gun and fires two more shots, both of which are heard hitting the
wall.
There is nothing this time. No response from
the attacker’s weapon. Jerry stands and moves toward the alleyway, against the
wall closest to prevent being shot.
He reaches the alleyway, and turns around it
sharply, nervously firing off a round. It is meant by only air, and impacts the
metal gate at the end of the alley. Jerry begins to move toward the gate, and
is met by the butt of the attacker’s gun as he steps out of a straying alley.
Jerry’s gun flies out of his hand and falls
to the shadows. His head, stricken by the butt of the gun, buckles and bleeds.
Jerry stumbles backward. The attacker punches him in the face, and he falls to
the ground.
The runner drops his weapon to the ground and
reaches into his pocket for a knife. He pulls it out, but drops it as well as
Jerry gets to his knees and brings both fists together in a club to the
runner’s midsection. He buckles and smacks his head against the brick wall of
the alleyway. Jerry reaches for his ankle and pulls it toward him, causing the
runner to trip. His head scrapes against the wall as he plummets, and finally lays with his back to the ground.
Jerry climbs on top of him and sits on his
ribs, and then lays into his opponent. His fists take turns striking the
runner’s face. Jerry shows no remorse, very nearly about to take the runner’s
life.
The runner, through the pain, reaches over to
his knife lying on the ground. His bloody hand grabs it by the handle and pulls
it toward him. He thrusts it forward into Jerry’s shoulder.
Jerry yells out and falls backward, off of
the runner. The runner kicks him even further backward, and slowly gets up. His
face is bloodied, and his walk is sub-par. He paces off into the alleys and
leaves the wounded Jerry behind.
Jerry pulls out the knife and grimaces, and
then lays his head back. He passes out before we
Fade through Black:
EXT -- SPACE
The camera pans across the vast and empty
system, the stars decorating the scene. It lands on a planet composed of only
blue, only sea. This planet is Aquinos. The frame holds there for a moment
before the powerful Ryuu-3 flies overhead, toward the planet. It’s scarred with
burns and the weapons are missing. The left engine is sparking every so often.
Cut to:
INT – RYUU 3
Amideas and Camella Winchester sit in their
usual seats. Amideas is still dressed in the colors placed upon him by the
separatists in the previous episode. He has one hand on the left throttle,
pushing it as far as it will go. The other is adjusting the right throttle
accordingly.
Camella
Do you want some
help?
Amideas
No, you wouldn’t
know what to do.
Camella
Oh… just ‘cause I can’t make
seventy-five thousand calculations a second.
Amideas
Calculations
which are busy talking to you. Thus it would make sense to stay silent
before I make a mistake and destroy the ship.
Cut to:
Ext – Aquinos Atmosphere
The Ryuu three begins its decent through the
clouds, the left engine still struggling. A voice over is heard.
Voice
Ryuu-3, you are cleared for landing at dock seventeen. Welcome to Aquinos,
enjoy your stay.
The ship continues its
decent. It breaches the clouds to reveal a line of landing pads and docks all
sitting conveniently on an obviously man-constructed platform. There is a large
“17” painted on the northern corner. The ship spins around and sputters,
finally setting down in an empty landing pad. The ships engines are shut off,
and after a few seconds a huge backfire of smoke bursts out of the left engine.
Cut to:
Ext – Dock Seventeen
The ramp of the Ryuu-3 lowers in front of the
other pilots and rugged captains from all over the galaxy looking for
transportation to the capitol city. Camella leads Amideas down the ramp.
Camella
I mean who would’ve
thought those parts the technologically inferior guerilla militarists put in
the ship would’ve died on us like that? Not me, that’s for sure…
Amideas plants a firm hand on Camella’s
shoulder and leads her forward. They are soon intercepted by a hooded merchant
wielding a data pad.
Merchant
Ahh, are you, let’s
see… [he looks at his data pad] Amideas?
Camella
That’s him, all
right.
Merchant
Ahh yes, and your ship is scheduled for the standard repair
package. We’ll need to take it to our garage in the city, of course.
Amideas
That is acceptable.
Will you be able to refit the weapon systems?
Merchant
No, I’m sorry.
While our regulations permit us to repair
weapons, we are not permitted to install them. You may want to try a smaller
dealer inside the city.
Amideas
We’ll do that.
Merchant
If you’d like we
can set you up with a nice hotel room, depending on your budget, for you and your…
Camella [slyly]
Niece! I’m his
niece.
Merchant
Right… well, the
next shuttle leaves in twelve minutes, and there’s another every half hour
after that. If you’ll just sign here, then.
The merchant hands Amideas the data pad, and
he signs it. Ami returns it to the merchant, who nods.
Merchant
Enjoy your stay at
Aquinos.
Cut to
SHUTTLE BOAT
A boat about three times the size of a
pontoon but more closely resembling the shape of a deck boat with a hood roof
makes its way through the water. The camera pans across the pilots, captains,
and visitors being bussed. They’re all having their own conversations, going
about their own business. The camera lands on Amideas and Camella, sitting side
by side, and stops.
Camella
Look at all these
people, Ami! Look at all the fun they’re gonna have! Why can’t we do something like that?
Amideas
Because
you’re my prisoner, not my niece.
Camella
…Spoil sport.
[Pause] Can we at least stop somewhere? Like a tavern?
Amideas
You had four
glasses of water before we set down.
Camella
I know. That’s… why we gotta stop.
Amideas nods accordingly. A voice comes on
over the speakers, from the driver in the front of the boat.
Driver
If you’ll look
directly ahead you’ll see
Fade to:
Another pan shot of the boat. All of the
seats are empty now, except for Amideas and Camella, which the camera stops on.
Driver
And here we are. This
is the last stop for those still on the shuttle, the commercial district. Those
departing should come to the front of the boat.
Camella
Hey! Dude! We're the only people on the ship at this point, you can just speak directly to us!
The two stand and move to the front of the
boat. The driver hands them a receipt and they step off onto the artificially-grounded
city, sitting on a platform similar to the one Dock Seventeen sat on.
Cut to:
EXT –
Small taverns and street corner merchants populate
this cheaper area of the city. Everyone here seems to be concerned only with
making a living. While they walk, people carrying items and desperately ranting
for a sale come up, including a poor woman trying to sell a pair of beads and
an older man offering a taxi ride. Amideas and Camella
ignore them and keep moving.
Camella
So,
about that tavern break?
Amideas looks over at Camella
Camella
Eh?
Cut to:
INT -- TAVERN
The doors to the tavern swing open to reveal
Amideas and Camella. They step through and the shot reverses to reveal the
tavern. There are tables where people are discussing business or having a drink together, booths along the walls where travelers can
gather some “pleasurable company” and a bar at the front.
Amideas
Be quick.
Camella [wide eyed]
No doubts there,
Big Blue.
Camella moves toward the bathroom. The camera
follows her as she moves through the crowd of tables, stopping when it falls on
none other than Jerry, seated alone. He looks up and follows her with his eyes
for a second before looking back down at his table.
Cut to Amideas, sitting himself at the bar.
He gestures to the bartender who quickly comes over to him. Ami says something
which is drowned out by the noise of the crowds, and the bartender nods. He is
quickly handed a glass of water.
He turns and looks at the crowd of scum,
presumably looking for a person who can deal him the weapons his ship should be
fitted with.
Cut to:
Camella exits the bathroom and begins her
walk toward the bar. Before she can be seen by anyone around the corner, the
man we know only as the runner puts his hand over her mouth and drags her
backward, pulling his knife out on her and placing it on her throat.
The Runner
You know how to
stay quiet?
Camella rolls her eyes, wanting to shake her
head no, but ultimately nods.
The Runner
Good, you’re going
to walk in front of me, and we’re gonna leave this place. Understand?
Camella nods once more.
Runner
All right, I’m
gonna take my hand off your mouth. You speak and I’ll cut you faster than you
can take a breath.
Camella nods again, and the Runner slowly
takes his hand off of her mouth, and takes his knife away from her throat. He
nods.
Runner
All right, start
moving.
Camella starts walking forward, around the
corner into the main part of the bar. She proceeds to conceal the Runner from
Jerry’s view. Amideas turns and spots her, and starts to get up.
She quietly looks him in the eye and ever so
slightly shakes her head no, just enough for Ami to realize, which is shown
through his electronically enhanced POV. He sits back down, keeping his eyes on
her.
Cut to a new woman sitting at a booth. She
spots the Runner and Camella nearly out of the door, and stands. She does not
realize that she is his hostage.
Woman
Jerry!
Jerry turns around
and sees the runner, standing up as well with wide eyes. The Runner grabs
Camella and backs up against the wall, putting his knife once more around her
throat.
Jerry
Let her go!
Runner
Oh come now, Jerry.
You wouldn’t expect me to do that, would you? Not after last time, huh?
Jerry
Let her go, Nemo.
Nemo
I’m sorry. I might
feel a bit more cooperative if I didn’t feel so… vulnerable.
A quick shot of Amideas, who stays seated.
Jerry
No one needs to be hurt today, Nemo.
Nemo
Oh, I don’t agree.
See I tried that once, but you people didn’t want to cooperate. And now, now you want me to cooperate? No. No, things don’t work that way. So you and
your… your lackey can leave me alone, that’d be fine.
Nemo creeps toward the door, leading Camella
along.
Camella
Uhm, if you don’t
mind, I think he’s trying to kidnap me.
Would you all like to hurry this up?
Nemo
It’d be in your
best interest to stay quiet.
Jerry
Let her go, Nemo!
You don’t need any more heat on you!
Nemo
Why not? I haven’t
been burned yet!
Nemo reaches the door and drags Camella
outside. Jerry begins to sprint to the door.
Jerry
Cassandra! Bring
the car around! He’s gonna go running!
Amideas stands and watches Jerry. Cassandra
moves to the back of the building.
Cut to:
EXT -- TAVERN
Nemo drags Camella to a two-seater vehicle,
looking similar to a small convertible, except more stylized. He opens the
passenger side and tosses Camella in, and then moves around to the driver’s
seat. He starts it and begins to pull it out of the parking lot. The camera
lands on the door of the Tavern as Jerry bursts through and takes a few shots
at the car with his pistol. One manages to land on the rear fender.
A new angle on Jerry shows him run out of the
tavern and to the edge of the parking lot. Cassandra brings the car around
through an alleyway leading to the back of the building. Jerry begins running
toward the car, and climbs into the passenger seat. The car takes off onto the
road behind Nemo’s vehicle. Jerry and Cassie’s vehicle is a bit larger and
looks relatively older, but keeps up in speed.
The camera moves back to the entrance of the
tavern as Amideas bursts through the doors. He looks across the parking lot
until he spots a stylized motor cycle and jumps on top of it, starting it up
with the press of a few buttons. He pulls it out of the parking lot and takes
off behind the other two vehicles, trailing the most.
Cut to:
NEMO’S CAR
Nemo glances over at Camella a couple of
times while trying to keep his eyes on the road before speaking.
Nemo
Are you hurt?
Camella
Nah.
Nemo
Well, just sit tight and do what I say. You don’t have to be hurt.
Camella
Oh no, don’t worry.
This happens to me all the time.
Cut to:
JERRY’S CAR
Cassandra turns the wheel sharply as they cut
between cars in both lanes, attempting to catch up with the speeding car
they’re chasing. Jerry pops the clip out of his pistol and searches around for
another one. Cassandra glances over at him.
Cassandra
What’re you gonna
do?
Jerry
[Looking confused
at Cassandra] I’m gonna shoot ‘im!
Cassandra
On
the road!? Does that sound very smart to you?
Jerry
S’better
than him gettin’ away again.
Cut to:
Amideas veers his bike smoothly through the
cars on either side of him, the camera cuts to his POV which reads at the
bottom “Searching for alternate routes” with displays of maps and scans of his
surroundings.
Cut to:
EXT -- ROAD
The shot leads Nemo’s car as it veers left,
then right, and then left. A car blocks it’s path into
the right lane and a car in the left lane is going much to slow for him. He
spots an alleyway and turns into it, the car sparking as it bumps into the wall.
It quickly makes its way through and turns into the next road, causing an
oncoming car to stop suddenly, still tapped by the rear of Nemo’s car as it turns
onto the road.
Cut to:
JERRY’S CAR
Jerry spots the car disappear, Cassandra
distracted by the cars immediately in front of her. She very nearly drives
right by it.
Jerry
The alleyway!
He points to it, his arm reaching across
Cassandra and blocking her view.
Cut to:
EXT -- ROAD
Jerry’s car stops suddenly, turning left as
it does. The brakes smoke and a car almost T-Bones them before stopping on its
own. It, however, is rear-ended by the next car behind it. Jerry’s car speeds
through the alley and turns right upon its exit, continuing its chase.
Cut to:
Amideas spots the two cars turn through his
POV, and then magnifies his map to outline the road he is currently on. A light
showing his position blinks and the map returns to normal size.
The angle cuts back to Amideas on his
motorcycle, riding right past the alleyway and speeding up a bit more.
Cut to:
NEMO’S CAR
Camella looks over to Nemo, a question
forming in her mind. Nemo keeps his eyes on the road.
Camella
So… do you even
know where we’re going or are you just sort of winging it?
Nemo
I think the docks
are this way.
Camella
This
exact road?
Nemo
…This direction,
anyway.
Cut to:
JERRY’S CAR
Cassandra gets stuck behind several cars in
her attempt to catch up with Nemo. She turns away from one only to get stuck
behind another.
Jerry
What are you doing?
He’s gonna get away!
Cassandra
Do you want to
drive? ‘Cause I’ll let you!
Jerry
No! Not at all,
keep going!
Cut to:
EXT -- ROAD
Nemo’s car becomes stuck behind a large
shipping truck. He slows down a bit in an effort to get around it. The camera
cuts to Jerry’s car which finally gets out of the mess of cars it was stuck in.
It speeds up toward Nemo, the road clean between them and him.
The camera cuts to an angle in front of
Nemo’s car. He moves around the shipping truck. It moves in front of the semi,
revealing Jerry’s car nearly right behind him in the other lane.
Cut to:
JERRY’S CAR
He loads his gun and arms it, rolling down
his window.
Jerry
Glad I brought this
thing, now?
Cassandra rolls her eyes.
Cut to:
NEMO’S CAR
The angle focuses on Nemo’s face as Jerry’s
car pulls up beside him. We can see Jerry’s car on the other side of Nemo. He
turns and faces it, and his eyes widen. A quick cut shows him grab the latch on
the side of his seat. His chair leans back as a shot is fired. It zooms
straight past Camella. Her eyes widen and she gives an angry look at Jerry’s
car.
Nemo
Take the wheel!
Camella
What?!
Nemo
Drive!
Camella grabs the wheel and Nemo lets go,
keeping his foot on the pedals. He reaches to his side and pulls out his
pistol. He reaches up his free hand and adjusts the rear view mirror so that he
can see Jerry’s car.
Nemo reaches the barrel of his pistol just
above the driver side’s door. He fires off two rounds.
Cut to:
JERRY’S CAR
Two shots slam into the door of the car,
creating dents on the inside. Jerry looks down at them and his eyes gives a
“whoa” expression.
Jerry
Bullet
proof?
Cassandra
Only
the best.
Cassandra’s eyes move back on to the road,
and she realizes where they are.
Cassandra
Jerry, look.
Jerry looks forward. The camera spins around
to reveal the docks. Jerry’s eyes widen but focus once more when another shot
slams into the side of his car.
Cut to:
NEMO’S CAR
Nemo brings the gun back to his chest and
starts to reload.
Camella
I think we’re
comin’ up to your docks.
Nemo slides upward in his chair so that he
just sees over the dashboard. He presses harder on the gas.
Cut to:
EXT – THE DOCKS
Nemo’s car speeds up and pulls in front of
Jerry’s car. The two accelerate toward the docks.
Cut to:
JERRY’S CAR
Jerry attempts to find a good shot, but
ultimately decides against it. Aggravated, he brings himself back inside the
vehicle.
Jerry
Go faster
Cut to:
NEMO’S CAR
Nemo sits back up in his chair and takes the
wheel. Camella leans back into her own chair and sighs.
Camella
Do I get to leave
now?
Nemo
Not quite yet. [He
looks over to her.] Don’t worry; I’m almost done with you.
Cut to:
EXT -- DOCK
Nemo’s car turns left onto the dock,
traveling along the boats and personal watercraft, and underneath the bridge
which runs along top of it.
Jerry’s car turns in just behind it, nearly
losing its traction on the water that has washed up onto the dock. It slides
toward the edge of the dock before straightening up and following Nemo’s car.
Above we can see Ami’s motorcycle drive into frame along the bridge.
Cut to:
EXT -- BRIDGE
Amideas looks downward toward the two cars
driving. From his POV we see his sights turn on Nemo’s car. He zooms in to see
it as it turns into one particular dock.
Cut to:
EXT -- DOCK
Nemo stops his car and climbs out, holding
his gun. There is a small, efficient looking boat tied to the dock, with
identical boats on either side of it. He moves around to get Camella. He opens
her door.
Nemo
Get in.
Camella
The
boat?
Aww man, I thought I was gonna be done.
Nemo pushes her along until she climbs
inside.
Camella
The water is way bigger than that city was.
Nemo unties the rope the boat is tied to and
jumps into the driver’s seat. He starts it up and throws the throttle backward,
moving it out of the dock. A merchant similar to the one scene on Dock
Seventeen is seen yelling at him to car.
Cut to:
Jerry’s car stops on the dock in the same
spot as Nemo’s car. He and Cassandra get out, Cassandra carrying a black bag.
Jerry pays no attention to it and jumps into the boat next to the one Nemo
took. Cassandra whips out a badge and flashes it at the merchant as she passes
by.
Cassandra
It’s okay, we’re
cops.
The two climb into the boat, and Jerry unties
the rope. He moves toward the driver’s seat and starts it up.
Cut to:
EXT -- BRIDGE
Amideas speeds the bike up. The view cuts to
his POV as he focuses on the boat about to leave the dock. It starts to pull
out as he catches up with it.
Amideas turns the bike toward the edge of the
bridge and drives it off. The bike speeds toward the ocean and the departing
boat. Amideas dives off of the bike which begins to lose its inertia and starts
to head toward the sea below. Amideas continues plummeting to the boat below,
now turning around.
Cut to:
EXT – JERRY’S BOAT
Jerry begins to speed the boat up as Amideas
crashes into the stern, lifting the bow out of the water suddenly. Cassandra
(standing) stumbles backward into the backseat and drops her black bag which
slides under.
Jerry looks back at the robot, confused, and
then turns his head back to the water trying to focus on the boat he’s chasing.
He looks back again as the robot gets to his feet.
Jerry remains in his driver’s seat as Amideas
moves to the front of the boat.
Jerry
What? H…Who are
you?
Amideas
My name is Amideas.
That girl your “Nemo” has is mine. I need to ensure her safety.
Jerry
Oh, well, then it
makes perfect sense that you should drop right out of the sky.
Amideas
You saw me in the
tavern, yes?
Jerry
Yeah…
yeah, no point in arguing now, if we both want the same thing. My name’s Jerry
Williams. That’s my partner, Cassandra Blanch.
Amideas looks back briefly at the dizzied
Cassandra sitting in the back. She waves her gun. Amideas turns and looks back
toward Nemo’s boat.
Amideas
Do you have a way
of disabling them?
Jerry
Short of this
thing? [He holds up his gun]
Nope.
Amideas
How good is your
aim?
Cut to
Cassandra sits in the back of the boat. She
drops her dizzied façade and reaches under her seat for her black bag. She
brings it up to her lap, making sure neither Jerry nor their new “ally” is
watching.
She looks inside. It reveals a complex
looking piece of machinery. She presses a button, and a timer reading “
Cut to
Jerry
Why? How good a
shot are you?
Amideas is handed Jerry’s gun and he points
it at the boat. He adjusts to the waves and fires off a single shot.
Cut to:
NEMO’S BOAT
A bullet flies into the motor of the boat,
causing it to smoke and sputter. Camella looks back at the boat chasing them
and smiles. Nemo looks back and grimaces. The boat starts to slow down and
eventually dies.
Cut to:
JERRY’S BOAT
Jerry sees the smoke rising out of Nemo’s
boat and looks over at Amideas.
Jerry
Wow, that’s
amazing!
Amideas
It only gets
better.
Amideas aims the gun once more and fires off
another round.
Cut to:
Nemo is standing with his gun ready. A single
bullet flies into his gun and knocks it out of his hand, into the water. He
moves to the edge of the boat and watches it sink into the sea.
Cut to:
JERRY’S BOAT
Jerry slows the boat down. He reaches over to
Amideas and takes his gun back. The boat stops as it reaches Nemo’s. Jerry
jumps up out of his seat and points his gun at Nemo.
Jerry
It’s over, Nemo!
Get aboard!
Nemo
No, it’s never
over, Jerry! Never over!
The barrel of another gun is placed up
against Jerry’s head as it clicks. The camera pans to reveal Cassandra pointing
it at him.
Jerry
Cassandra?
She reaches for the keys of Jerry’s boat and
tosses them into the water, and does the same with his gun which she takes from
his hand. She then moves around Jerry, and past Ami who stands still. Nemo
moves to the side of the boat and pulls out a porta-motor, much smaller but
practically used. It’ll move about a rough twenty miles an hour. He moves
around to the stern of the boat and places it in the water, pulling the rip cord
in an effort to start it.
Jerry
What are you doing?
Cassandra
Doesn’t it make
sense, Jerry? You chased him for six months and every time you came so close,
but every time something stopped you. Every time you were beaten. What did you
think was holding you back?
Jerry
Don’t…
Cassandra
I’m sorry Jerry.
I’m sorry things had to go down this way, but Nemo’s about to make a fortune
with his find, and I’m not about to let that pass me up.
Nemo stands, noticing that he’s been
recognized and reaches down to his necklace. He pulls it out from under his
shirt to reveal an ancient, golden looking artifact laced with jewels hanging
from the chain. He smiles.
Cassandra
You just had to
keep pushing, didn’t you? [She climbs aboard Nemo’s boat, still pointing her gun
at Jerry]
Well not anymore.
Nemo looks over to Camella, smiling at her.
Nemo
You can join your
friends now.
Camella looks at Amideas and Jerry, then back
at Nemo.
Camella
Do I have to?
Nemo pushes Camella forward until she finally
sighs and steps aboard Jerry’s boat.
Cassandra
This runs deeper
than you know, Jerry.
She turns and nods at Nemo, who presses on
the gas pedal connected to the motor. The boat begins to move toward the open
sea, departing from Jerry’s boat. [Exit Nemo and Cassandra]
Jerry watches them leave, until Amideas
speaks up.
Amideas
We have to get this
boat moving again, Jerry. We can still go after them.
Jerry
[Pausing] Right,
right… now, there ought to be one of those portable motors on here somewhere.
Everyone split up and look for it.
The three characters split to different areas
of the boat, looking for one of those motors. Amideas moves toward the front,
looking under the seats. Jerry looks underneath the driver and passenger seats.
Camella looks in the rear of the ship. She pauses when she finds a black bag,
and drags it out from underneath. She looks inside. The counter reads “0:28”
Camella
Um… you guys? You
guys, come here!
Jerry
What?
Amideas and Jerry move over to Camella’s
location and look at the bomb. Jerry stumbles backward.
Camella
Ami! Make like a
hero and throw this thing as far over board as you can!
Amideas reaches for the bomb and picks it up.
Jerry
No! Don’t. If they
see that the boat’s still here they’re gonna know we’re still alive.
Jerry looks back and forth along the ship
until his eyes finally land on something out of frame.
Cut to:
NEMO’S BOAT
Nemo stands peddling the motor as Cassandra
sits at the steering wheel. In the distance they see the small outline of the
boat suddenly burst into an orange mushroom cloud. It quickly fades to smoke.
Cassandra looks back at it, and then forward again, looking downward.
Cassandra
At last…
A new angle shows a close up on Nemo’s
necklace. The diamond in the center glows briefly before returning to a cold
rock.
Cut to:
Jerry’s destroyed boat
The camera pans across several destroyed
pieces of the boat lying in the water, on fire. The main hull is sitting,
engulfed in flames. The three characters are no where to be found, until the
camera stops along a bubble rising out of the water. It is followed by two
more, and they continue to grow more rapid until Camella shoots out of the
water gasping for air, wearing a life vest. She tugs on a cord and it inflates.
Jerry rises right next to her. They look across the water to see Amideas rise
out of the water, minus a life vest.
Camella looks at the debris, and then back at
Amideas.
Camella
Well this is great!
We’re stranded in the middle of the ocean! I would’ve rather blown up on the
boat!
Amideas ignores her, but only surveys his
surroundings. He picks a direction, and then begins swimming.
Amideas
This way…
The camera pushes out as the two humans begin
to follow the machine. It continues pushing out to reveal just how much water
they have to swim through. Continue slowly pushing out until we
