Author Rants v1.1 Greetings all! Nice to see that you've decided to check out my little rants. Well, screw the intro. I hate introductions. Let's just get into the rant shall we. DUMB RUMOURS STARTED BY FAN FICS I just got done reading some dumb series rumours on the Sailor Senshi Page (http://pluto.spaceports.com/~neptune/sailormoon/) and boy did they make me laugh. And laugh. And laugh some more. People can come up with the most brainless things sometimes! But, what's pretty sad, is that a lot of these rumours come directly from fan fics like mine. Well, let me rephrase that. They come from fan fics period. They don't have to be like mine... sure, some of them suck like mine does, but others are good. ^-^ Alright people, come on now. Why would you take info from a fan fiction and call it the real thing? Let's stop for a minute and ask ourselves what a fan fiction really is. Well? It's a story written by a fan of a show/person/etc that is not recognized as 'official information.' In English - it's fake! Fan fics come from the minds of their authors. No matter what fan fic you read, it didn't happen at any time in the show. Let's use mine for example. I do a popular thing in my fan fic - make up a Sailor Senshi. In this case it's Sailor Centauri. Now, all you die-hard Sailor Moon fans (or at least the one's with their heads screwed on straight) will immediately recognize that Centauri isn't and never will be a character in the Sailor Moon anime or manga. Why not? cause I made her up, not Takeuchi Naoko. But, for some strange reason, there will be people that go 'Hey! Sailor Centauri's a real Sailor Senshi!' and use that info on their webpage, or tell a friend who has a webpage, or something along those lines. Then they'll take all the information that I twisted around and post it for the world to read and believe. That's how the rumours get started. Dumb people that don't know the difference between fiction, and fiction about fiction (heehee). Now, let's go into the sheer stupidity of doing that. I think most people out there know that fan means a person who likes something a lot and that fiction means not real. Let's put the two together. Fan Fiction. A FAN wrote a FICTIONal story about whatever it is they like. Now, what was the definition of fiction again? Oh right, not real. Have I sufficiently confused you yet? Gooooood. Okay - the point is (and why didn't I just say it to start with?) that you'd have to be incredibly dense to think that something clearly labeled FICTION has anything worth believing in it. Personally, I don't even trust basic info available anywhere that I find in fan fics. Why? Because it's too easy to make a mistake or change one small detail. Okay, now I'm sure you're sick of hearing me rant about fan fictions, hell, I bet I'm the only one that bothered reading this, so I'll shut up and move on to the next rant that only I will read. -disclaimer: what I just wrote was my oppinion. if you couldn't understand that, please read the rant I have on stupid people. thank you and have a nice day ^-^ -e.b.
