first there were mystic night and midnight love. they lived peacefully, contently, as the rulers of the whole of distant promises. they had three sons, midnight fury, storm chaser, and night's odyssey. when mystic night died without naming an heir, the difficult decision was left to his beautiful queen. she could not pick between her beloved sons, and made it known that her wish was for the three of them to split the land and share it equally. split it they indeed did, but hostilities had formed between the three, and they each picked a different path; fury chose darknes, storm light, and odyssey neutrality.
the three kings acquired followers, mates, sons. tension was high as they reached their prime age, and fury waged war on storm. storm was killed, as was odyssey. it appeared that darkness had conquered. but the sons of storm and odyssey, shadow chaser and uruz, sought revenge on a murderer. they attacked fury and skill could not compete with age. fury was killed by the hooves of his nephews, leaving his son, midnight flame, in his place.
a fourth king, moon shadow, also of dark spirit, had taken a piece of fury's land when he failed to meet a challenge. in moon shadow's place was titan.
and so the four new kings took their place on the thrones of their respective empires, preparing to continue the battle their fathers had started. they too had sons; twin colts were born to flame and his queen, ironic, starting rumor of an age old prophecy. the prophecy stated that when twin sons were born to the dark, all else would fall to their power. frightened and determined, titan stole one of the colts and murdered him. flame, failure and guilt ripping through him, fled, leaving retribution in his place.
shadow, hertbroken at the loss of his love, calamandra, fled as well, leaving a young son, solo, to rule the lights. solo, young and terrified, fled also, in search of the family he had lost. the light line thus ended.
moon shadow died of old age and shock, shortly after fury was resurrected and killed titan. it appeared that the rebels were dead.
uruz and his son, chiyo, had formed an alliance with the lights. when they disappeared, the neutrals left distant promises as well.
and so, in a mixed up way, the prophecy had in fact come true. retribution came to power over all of distant promises. myth
it is rumored that shadow did indeed reunite with calamandra, but their joy was short lived. cala was weak from her flight. shadow could not save her. she died close by him. days later, shadow died as well, of a broken heart.
supposedly, the son of two lights, solus mirage, journeyed to the place where shadow was last seen. he was obsessed, maddened by a cause known only to him. he felt it was his duty to save the destiny of the lights, to resurrect the lost king. for days he remained in the same spot, working unknown magic, hoping against hope that shadow's spirit would take his body and use it to fight back. many think that this effort paid off...
it is also rumored that rebels remain on the outskirts of the land, plotting attacks. the leader of these is most likely thorne, moon shadow's only other son. wether this is indeed fact is unknown.
solo is presumed dead, as are chiyo and uruz. but in a world so distraught, things are never what they seem.
but it will not be that way for long...
