Nala is Simba's best friend, and at the end of the film Simba's mate. Nala is
a fun loving cub, and her and Simba go off on adventures together. The most
memorable adventure being the trip to the elephant graveyard. Nala is extremly
good at pinning Simba, and whenever they have a play fight, she always wins.
When Scar tells the pride that Simba has been killed she gets extremly distaught
and thinks she has lost a very dear friend. The next time we see her she is an
adult lioness in search of some food. She has wandered into Simba's new home. Simba
tries to defend Timon and Pumbaa the pair fight. Simba realises that it's her
when she pins him to the ground. Nala is extremely pleased about her best friend being
alive and she is also very excited that there is now some hope for the Pride Lands, but Simba
refuses to go back, but Nala with the help of Rafiki manage to convince him to
go back. At the end of the film Nala and Simba have a cub together.

Rafiki is the wise old monkey of the story. He know's a lot of things. He
blesses the new born cubs in the film. He gives up hope after Scar tells the Pride
that Simba and Mufasa have been killed. Rafiki first discovers that Simba is still
alive from some dust that Simba has sat on. You can tell Rafiki is very clever
because who else could figure out somebody was alive from some dust?! Rafiki sets
off to find Simba, and when he finds him he shows him something very valuable. He
shows him that his father lives in him and that he must remember who he is. He
also teaches him that the past can hurt but you must learn from your mistakes.
After these wise words Simba returns to the Pride Lands.

Zazu is the trusted advisor of Mufasa. He hates to see rules being broken, and
is very loyal to the family, even is he can be a little strict at some times.
Zazu is often sent off with the cubs to make sure they keep themselves out of trouble.
After Mufasa is killed, Zazu is locked up and forced to sing songs for king Scar's
amusement. He is freed towards the end of the film and all ends well for him!
There's a villian in every good Disney film, and in this one it's Simba's uncle
Scar. Scar was intended to be first in line after Mufasa and he is not impressed
the Simba has taken over as this role. Scar craftily lets slip that the shadow lands
is an elephant graveyard knowing full well that Simba would love to go there.
Scar plans to kill Mufasa and Simba in a wildebeest stampede. He manages to kill
Mufasa but Simba gets away. Later on Simba comes back and challenges Scar for the
throne. Of course Simba wins, but he doesn't kill him. The hyenas do that job -
after he calls them the enemy in a desperate plea to save himself.
Mufasa and Sarabi are Simba's father and mother, respectively. Mufasa is the
current lion king. His brother is Scar. Sarabi is very caring towards her
husband and son and is extremely upset when she is told of their death. Mufasa
teaches Simba many lessons, like that the stars are the great kings of the past
and that he should never go to the shadowlands. Mufasa dies in a terrible
accident. Scar sets up a trap for him, he sets the hyenas on to the wildebeest
which stamped down the gorge where Simba is. Mufasa goes to rescue Simba, he does this successfully
but when he tries to jump up to safety, Scar purposely throws him off the edge
off the cliff. Sarabi later becomes the head of the hunting tribe.
Ed, Shenzi and Banzai are the three main hyenas in the story. They work in league
with Scar. They take over the Pride Lands after Mufasa is killed and Simba is
exiled. They are always hungry and looking out for a meal. Shenzi is the group leader
and also the only female of the group. Ed is extremly crazy and doesn't actually
speak, but just laughs hysterically at most things.

Timon and Pumbaa are the funny characters in the film which bring some light
relief after the death of Mufasa. Timon is a meerkat, and Pumbaa is a warthog.
Timon likes to pretend that he is the cleverest one of the two, but Pumbaa was
the one who came up with the idea to keep Simba, however Timon totally
changed it round to make is sound like it was his idea. After they take Simba
back to their home they teach Simba the lesson of "Hakuna Matata" - no worries!
They teach Simba to eat grubs just like they do. They each have their own theories
on what the stars are - Timon's is that they are fireflies that got stuck in the
'bluish - blackish' stuff, and Pumbaa once again shows his intelligence by
stating that he thinks that they are giant balls of gas burning millions of miles away!
Simba comes in handy for the duo later when Nala tries to eat Pumbaa. Timon gets
upset that Nala and Simba go off alone, but it all turns out alright when they return to Pride
Rock!
