Mulan Mulan

Mulan, 1998 PILA-3026

Date issued: 10/22/99, Dubbed - no English, CLV.

This was the first letterboxed release of Mulan, before they started releasing Disney movies on DVD.  A pan and scan VHS was released in February 1999.  Although a Sing-Along laserdisc of Mulan was released in the U.S. in 1998 (Honor To Us All - 14023AS), the movie was not.  This Japanese laserdisc includes a very strange preview of A Bugs Life with background music of Teenage Wasteland from The Who.  There is also a trailer for Tarzan, which had not yet been released to theaters in Japan.  At the end of the movie, there are 2 music videos: True To Your Heart by 98 Degrees and Stevie Wonder, & Reflection by Christina Aguilera, both in English!  The cover artwork is completely different than any other video release.  The back of the jacket has the "Closed-Caption" symbol, but that is a mistake.  There appears to be no closed captioning on the disc.  Mulan was released twice on laserdisc, once in Japan and once in France (with no extras).  Side 1 of the French laserdisc is CAV.  Neither version has an English soundtrack.  Not available on laserdisc in the U.S.
