Behind the Scenes At Walt Disney Studio From "The Reluctant Dragon" SF078-1148

Date issued: 09/25/1986, Dubbed - no English, CLV.

This is Disney's fourth feature film, originally titled The Reluctant Dragon.  Released theatrically in 1941 at 73 minutes.  Only the final 20 minute animated segment was released on laserdisc in the U.S. (394AS).  This is one of Disney's neglected classics, part live action and part animation.  It starts off in black and white, then turns to color as they describe the Technicolor process.  It's a behind-the-scenes look at how they create sound and use their multi-plane process for animating Bambi.  It's interesting to see Walt and the famous animators when they were very young, going through the creative process of storyboarding their animated classics.  The Japanese title is, "Sorcery Animation Heaven".  Although this disc has no English, it includes some rare alternate animation from Dumbo and Bambi which has no dialog, and never made it to the finished films.  The hilarious segment of Clarence Nash recording Donald's voice is in English (I guess it couldn't be translated).  It also includes the famous Baby Weems short and the Goofy cartoon, How To Ride a Horse, which started the whole Goofy "How To" series.  This is a very rare and hard to find disc.  Not available on laserdisc in the U.S.
