A great way to help calculate your food budget is to take a look at some menus from WDW! The best collection I have seen can be found at WDWIG. WARNING: Your Mouth Will Start Watering! You'll be able to find dining choices that will suit your tastes, and your pocket book.
One fun option for dining at Walt Disney World are character meals! This is a great way to meet some of your favorite characters! While you eat, the characters make there rounds to ALL of the tables. While you're not guaranteed a certain amount of time with each character, you will get the chance to meet them all, and have some prime photo opportunities.

It is especially wise to look into Priority Seating (Disney's modified version of Reservations) if you are planning on a character meal. Depending on the location, and the time of year, they can fill up very quickly! This is especially true for the infamous Cinderella's Royal Table character breakfast. This one requires 60 days in advance Priority Seating arrangement, which means, exactly 60 days prior to your anticipated visit, you need to call Walt Disney World Dining as soon as they open, or you may be in for a disappointment!
Scott Thomas maintains an excellent (to say the least) Priority Seating FAQ and a calculator that calculates the dates for when you need to call and make your Priority Seating arrangements. He also includes a report writer that prints off a list of all of your Priority Seatings so you can take a copy along with you that has all of your confirmations!
Remember to add in a tip to your calculation if you are considering sit down restaurants.
