Press Alt-o to get to an options screen. From there you can 
choose to have invincibility and unlimited ammo

To get into the planets with astroids hit your afterburners and aim for the planet. Pull up and down on your joystick repeativly until you are in range to land you will land automaticlly. No more probelms with fighting in asteroids again.
