| Welcome to the story of Bryan. Daydreamer is the first short film written and directed by Carlos A. Montoya. Though this is his own personal first, it is not the first film that he has been involved with. Carlos started acting and technical production in high school and was never able to shake the want to keep doing more. Presently, Carlos works for film crews in any capacity he can talk his way into... that's how he got in to the "biz" ya' know. Back to Bryan though... Bryan is lonely. Though many people are, Bryan has found a way to escape that reality... or make it worse. Trying too hard to be what is "cool", we follow Bryan through a series of daydreams that are all his own. Half revisionist, half desperate, he tries to keep the good thoughts going and take a stab at love... over and over. Traversing the past in his own way, he shows us the silly side of what we have considered to be cool, and not so cool. ending up in the same situations we all face, he just keeps going. From waking a minute before his alarm clock was set, to shying away from opportunity, Bryan is a steadfast hero of the grind. We have all been where Bryan now finds himself... just not quite so often. Daydreamer was shot on a three day schedule using five locations... with no dialouge. Those involved in making this film are deeply appreciated. The lead actor (Bryan Deer) had never acted a day in his life before he was involved in this film; he was marvellous. The crew was composed of people Carlos had met on various projects, from big budget films... to his karaoke hostess (Meghan Webster AKA "Jinny Carols"). All assembled with this project in mind, they were all perfect for the job. Refered to as "the grand experiment" in pre-production, Daydreamer proved to be a project that was beyond the directors means, and yet prevailed. "I don't like the ending, and you have a five minute film at best." -Leighanne Stoudenmire... Script Supervisor "You cannot get an intersection to film at without alot more money!" -Marcus Mantano... Producer "You're Crazy!" -Alexander Paul... Director of Photography "You Cannot keep any crew past twelve hours!" -Joshua A. Sallach... Assistant Director "You need to cut, cut, cut." -Nicholas Bongianni... Editor "Let's make a movie!" -Bryan Deer... Actor "I think that you were all right. That's why I chose you. Thanks for everything." -Carlos A. Montoya... Director |
