This is a freeware developed by yours truly. Themain object behind the project was to increase the available disk space . The software changes the way files are stored on the floppy .It utilises some of the space used by the file system to increase the storage space to 1.72 MB.

SuperFormat is here for review and views.Send your ..ahem... expert opinions to faiz@ieee.org.It provides for disk labelling, gives the head and track of unrepaired bad sectors. Yes, and while formatting it also repairs badsectors.

Superformat creates an entirely new file system which is where the "extra space" comes in from ( see the comments which popup at the end of a SuperFormat.

                              _________________

Use the UP/DOWN arrow keys to highlight the menu item you want to
change or select and press ENTER, or just press the highlighted letter.
The function of each item is explained below:

Drive - Selecting this option toggles between A and B. If you
have only one 3" drive, that drive is selected, and the
selection can't be changed. SuperFormat does not support
                   5" drives.

Type - This is a three way selection between Complete, Verify-
                   Only and Wipe-Only.
Complete - Actually performs a low level format
and will even work if the disk has
                                      never been formatted before.
Verify-Only - Only verifies each sector. It does not
perform a low level format. It is
faster than Complete format, but can
be used only with previously formatted
                                     disks.
Wipe-Only - Erases all data on the disk by over
writing the system areas. This should
not be used if you get errors while
                                     using the disk.

Capacity - This toggles between 1.44 and 1.72 MB. You don't require
any special kind of drive or disk to use the 1.72 MB
option. It works with standard disks and drives.

Start Format - Start formatting the disk with the selected options.

Help - Guess you figured this one out already.

   Quit - Exit SuperFormat.

SuperFormat always tells you what to do next, on the status line at
the bottom of the screen. For example, what key to press or what action
    to take.
You can get more information about SuperFormat in README.TXT. You
can view that file in a text editor like EDIT or NOTEPAD.
