Agnes has been the Discovery Corner Director since March 2005. She has over 10 years experience in the field of early childhood education, and taught special education before taking a few years off to have children. She is married to John and together they have 2 preschoolers. Agnes holds a B.A. and certification in Elementary Education and a MEd. in Multicultural and Special Education. In her free time, she enjoys reading and spending time with her family.
Ms. Marty is the teacher for the Big Paws. She has been teaching at Discovery Corner since 1995 and has been a creative asset to the staff. Marty is married to Ken, and has two teenage children. She graduated from Hempfield High School and attended Franklin and Marshall College to study anthropology, archaeology, history, and art. She also teaches private art lessons and teaches Sunday School. She has been a lifetime member of First United Methodist Church, and follows her strong calling to serve the Lord in children's ministry.
Ms. Joan has been teaching and assisting at Discovery Corner for many years. Currently, she is the teacher for a Grand Paws class. She always has great, creative ways to get her students to learn. She also is the Youth Director at Grace United Methodist Church. Joan is the mother of 3 sons, and wife to Ron.
Ms. Karen is the teacher for the Little Paws class. She graduated from Dallastown High School and attended Millersville University. She is married to Joel and is the mother of two daughters. Karen enjoys scrapbooking and being a part-time consultant for Pampered Chef.
Miss Lori is the teacher in the Grand Paws class and an assistant in a Big Paws class. A lifetime member of First United Methodist Church, Lori graduated from Shippensburg State College with a BS in Business Education. She is married to Chuck and has a daughter. Lori volunteered as a teacher's aid in her daughter's classroom and enjoyed it enough to consider making a career change to preschool teaching. Lori enjoys reading, counted cross-stitch, collecting Boyd's bears and going to Hershey Bears hockey games with her family.
Ms. Nelda is the assistant in a Grand Paws class and considers her students to be little "spirit-lifters." She spent many years assisting in public school classrooms and came to Discovery Corner in 2002. Nelda has one son, with whom she spends the majority of her time. She enjoys sewing - anything from quilting to costuming, and doing crafts.
Ms. Carmen started as the Little Paws assistant in 2004 after deciding to pursue her teaching degree at Millersville University. She is married to Oscar, and is mother to two children. Carmen enjoys crafts, reading, board games, and scrapbooking.
