Sorry for the lack of updates.  Mac was sent to the minor league camp fairly early in spring training.  Currently, he is pitching for the Triple A Omaha Royals.  He has pitched 16.2 innings and has a 3.78 ERA.  Unfortunately, he has an 0-2 record and opponents are batting almost .300 against him.  Mac did pitch well tonight in a relief appearance against Sacramento.  He went three innings, giving up only one hit and striking out three.

SPRING TRAINING UPDATE!
Mac made his 2002 Grapefruit League debut yesterday against the Pittsbyrgh Pirates.  He came into the game in the ninth inning, with the Royals leading 6-4.  He allowed the first two batters on via a walk and a hit, but was able to escape the jam and preserve the win.  Mac now has one save and a 0.00 ERA in his one inning of work.

Good News!  Five months after sending Mac to the Rockies in a trade, the Royals have re-signed him.  Mac had performed poorly in the thin air of Colorado, and was released after only a few outings.  He finished out the remainder of last season with the Milwaukee Brewers, and ended up with an overall record of 5-12 and an ERA of 5.86 in 33 games.  The deal between KC and Mac is a minor-league deal that gives Suzuki a shot at the big league club in spring training.  There are no guarantees for him to stay with the Royals throughout the season, but the contract also contains many incentives.  But, it's likely we'll see Mac this year, pitching off the mound at the K.
