This is your American Dream/ Everything is simple in the white and the black/ You will never have to see the grey anymore/ You will never have to be afraid

What do you call 1,000 Frenchmen with their hands in the air? The French Army.

How funny is that? Seriously, we here in America now ofiicially believe the French are part of the Axis of Evil. Or at least the Axis of Snooty. And all because they don't want to do everything George Bush says.

Is it me, or is George Bush kind of like the bully in middle school who only has friends because anyone who disagrees with him gets made fun of and beat up? Maybe if we called Jacques Chirac a fag he'll go along with our plans.

Here in America we can't stand when someone disagrees with us. Even our own non-Gallic protesters are being called traitors. Now, I've been angry with folks who hold different views than myself before, but that's because I was right and they were wrong. But I never suggested they apologize and change their view. I gave my side of the argument, and left it at that. One's opinions are what make a person who they are. Now, when a person with insane views is trying to make laws based on obscure Biblical references, that's another matter entirely.

Case in point, Minnesota State Rep. Arlen Linder (Do I even need to add he's a Republican?). Linder recently introduced a bill that would remove any reference homosexuality from our human rights laws. Because, as we all know, homosexuals don't get to have basic human rights.

Linder said that homosexuals were never persecuted in Nazi concentration camps (a lie), and that gays are "turning Minnesota into another Africa" (A reference to AIDS that makes little sense).
He has, in the past, referred to Buddhism as a "cult," and called a Jewish representative "irreligious."

He is, of course, entitled to these views. However, the Bible doesn't make good law. I've been saying this for years, but no one seems to listen. Apparently, because the Bible says homosexuality is wrong (and really, it doesn't), all gays should be denied the rights given to everyone else.

I call Bullshit. (c. Chance Prigge)

This belief that marriage is so sacred that two loving men or women can't legally get married, but I could marry the girl I met through a TV show last week is ludicrous. Marriage isn't about gender, it's about love. And money. But mostly love.

People say we don't have respect for marriage anymore. Maybe it is because we see that conservatives who preach "family values" don't think love is one of those values. Maybe it's because we see loving couples who have been together longer than many of us have been alive denied the basic decency of being with a dying loved one, because the family never accepted their relative was gay. Or maybe it's because we would like to be allowed to make our own choices on who we love, marry and grow old with, without Arlen Linder peeking his head in the bedroom to see if we're having sex missionary style through a hole in a sheet with the lights off. (Admit it Arlen, you were turned on by that thought)

Societies evolve. Conservatives, it would appear, don't.

I was going to talk about the new Everclear album (3 out of 5 Stars) and a great book,
The DaVinci Code by Dan Brown (5 Stars), but I think my rant has become wearisome. So I'll leave with this note. The DaVinci Code comes out March 18; It is one of the best thrillers I have ever read. It even made me want to do some art study. If you are a Christian, however, read this book, then do some research on your religion. Your eyes might be opened.

I'm Ken Feucht, and I'm not gay, but I wouldn't care if my son was.
