Election Day Notice!
Today is an important day in our country. Today is the day that we elect our leader for another 2, 4 and 6 years, depending on the office. This is far to imporatnt to shrug off as boring or not worth your time.
If you are reading this, you are probably under 24. We are sorely underrepresented in government, precisely because we don't vote. If you are old enough to vote, go do it. If not, find people who are, and persuade them to vote. The excuse "I don't know enough about the candidates!" is not valid. Press the back button of your browser, and visit the web pages of the candidates. It won't take more than 20 minutes to read the platforms of each candidate. Do it.
But don't stop there. There are other races. Senate, House of Representatives, state races, county and city boards. I suggest that if you don't know the Congress and state candidates, vote the same party as you like for president. For Green and Libertarian, vote Democrat and Republican repectively. They are the closest to the these parties in most issues.
For city and county, if you don't know anyone, my suggestion is if you like how things are going, vote for the incumbent (They are generally labeled as such). If not, vote the bastards out, and bring in a new guard.
Send a message to your friends. Tell people you walk by at school. Yell out really loud at 10:00 A.M. "Everyone needs to vote today!!!!" Display your "I voted" sticker proudly. Do whatever you can to get the youth of America to vote. Make sure your parents vote too (unless they are voting for Bush. Then remind them that the polls for Republicans are on Wednesday).
This is an imporatnt election. Whether your candidate wins or loses, young voters need to say that they will be heard, and that we will be watching. We are the ones that matter. In 20, 30, 40 years, we have to live here. Be heard.
Vote!
