Anarchist Influence

Discordianism's prime directive is to undermine all forms of authority. Consequently many Discordians consider themselves to be some form of anarchist. Anarchism is a socio-political philosophy promoting free-for-all, self-serving behavior. It is the lowest form of political and social ignorance.

Even counter-cultural icons such as Naom Chomski have acknowledged the evidence showing the tendancies of anarchists towards criminal behavior. Many terrorists have been anarchists. Despite the evidence, these people see themselves as revolutionaries, actively trying to destroy the state - not to create something better, but out of spite.

Anarchy, on the whole, doesn't get very far because of its inherent 'non-cooperative' attitude, but Discordianism focuses on resistance to authority, which is more immediately available than any collective self-servitude. Most anarchists are limited to acts of vandalism, but Discordianism gives anrchists many more outlets, ranging from social to occult. The threat is compounded when anarchists get the cooperation of hackers (which is another Discordian targeted demographic)

Most Discordian strikes are based on Von Neumans approach to game theory - meaning they are random acts, not directly related to any larger goal. This approach makes it theoretically impossible to predict where and how they will strike next. While the targets may be random, the acts themselves are usualy ritualistic enactments, (done to show how clever they are - this method of structuring attacks is also common in serial killers and other psychopaths)

The Discordian Society pulls this distructive political ideology into its fold and feeds off it, establishing an active element for their haenous acts.
