I really enjoy Edward Weston's work, and this is a direct reference to his series on bell peppers.  He tried to find the most sensual peppers he could and photographed them under dramatic light to give them an almost human quality. I added my theme of immortality by covering a small portion of the pepper with foil.  It kind of encases and preserves the pepper, yet even inside it's shell, it will eventually rot away and die, leaving nothing but the shell.  I threw the pepper in the garbage afterward and my roomate Mike dug it out and ate it.
