| Kelly Green (vocals/harmonica), Gary Ray Thompson (guitar), Thomas Beaudry (bass), Larry Zelanka (keyboards) and Rick Stevens (drums) all emerged from the hard-rock circuit in Detroit, USA. In 1970 they scored a surprise transatlantic hit with their powerhouse interpretation of "The house of the rising sun" based on the ANIMALS' highly original arrangement, but to which they added a searing guitar-strewn approach, reminiscent of contemporaries MC5 and THE STOOGES. The single reached no. 7 in the USA and no. 4 in the UK, but the groups subsequent chart entries, "Sing a song for freedom" and "Heartbreak hotel" (both released in 1971) were confined to the lower regions of the US chart. It confirmed a suspicion that the song, rather than the group, was responible for that first flush of success. FRIJID PINK (1970) - Their debut album, an absolute masterpiece of heavy psychedelic blues-rock. It reached no. 11 on the US charts and spawned their one hit single "House of the rising sun". | DEFROSTED (1970) - Not as psychedelic in flavor as their debut, this album still sounds fairly similar. Good powerful blues rock that should please anyone into early 70's hard rock. | EARTH OMEN (1973) - A far departure from the sound of their first two albums, this one is still surprisingly good. Leaning more into classic 70's rock territory it didnt fair well with their fans and was a total flop. | ALL PINK INSIDE (1975) - Their swan song, and probably their most mediocre work, this album still has its moments. Singer Jo Baker is quite great here and it contains one of their catchiest tunes "Money man".
