1. DJ98 We are a private collector using the services of eBay to sell our excess copies of vinyl albums, 45's and other recordings. We are a collector of vinyl and do not deal as a formal organization with any place of business. By bidding on items offered by us, DJ98, the user is confirming they understand and are agreeing to the terms and conditions herein as well as the eBay User Agreement. Winning bidders are defined as those who are the current high bidder at the end of the auctions. Winning bidders will be contacted via e-mail with detailed instructions on how to complete the transaction including payment instructions and mailing address. This will be approximately 24-48 hours after the end of the auction. 3. Bidders with Negative feedback/New Bidders Bidders with negative feedback, or low amount of feedback, or new users are welcome to bid on our auctions but restricted to paying by money order only. We reserve the right to cancel bids by bidders that we deem unfit to deal with without notice to the bidder. Buyers have the ability, through eBay, to retract a bid on any item they bid on. This is a privilege granted by the eBay User Agreement that the bidder agrees to upon registration. A bidder is welcome to retract their bid on our auction, but if we deem this action a possible violation of the eBay user policy, we reserve the right to report the incident to eBay User Agreement enforcement without notice to the bidder. All grading is done on a 10-point system based in part on that of author Neil Umphred as found in his "About Me" Page on eBay. As of the time of creation of this document Mr. Umphred's account has been inactive. His "About Me" page states that he is to publish his grading system in his next book that is, as of now, unfinished. Grading of LP albums is done in four parts. Vinyl, Cover, Label, and Play condition. Play condition is graded on how the album sounds when played. The label is grading on how much damage has effected the gloss, print and condition of the label and it's text. The cover is graded on effects of damage from wear and tear. The vinyl is graded on visual effects of wear and tear. The visual grading differ from the play grade often depending on the quality of the vinyl and/or manufacturing process. The older records tend to grade lower visually while retaining a better play grade. Newer records, manufactured from the 1970's and 80's tend to have lower play grades even when the visual grades are higher. Grades used are defined as follows: i. Vinyl: I use this grade only for a record that's still sealed & has never been played. ii. Cover: A mint cover is perfect, with or without shrink wrap. Just because a cover is still in the shrink wrap, or even sealed, it's not necessarily mint. iii Label: Perfect, no spindle marks or wear, at all. iv. Play: Once again, only a sealed record that has never been played. i. Vinyl: A record that looks mint, but has been played once or twice. ii. Cover: A NM cover looks mint, except for one very minor detail, like a slightly dinged corner or a slightly bent corner from the continued shrinking of the shrink wrap. iii Label: A NM label has only one or two very minor spindle marks, otherwise it's mint. iv Play: Plays & sounds like a brand new record should. i. Vinyl: A record that most people would still call NM. EX vinyl has some light paper scuffs, which have no effect on the play. Or there may be one very faint scratch that has no effect on the play. ii. Cover: The cover should still have no wear, but might have slight dings on more than one corners. There may be slight ring wear, the impression only, no wear to the ink. iii. Label: The record label might have one or two small and light spindle marks, otherwise it's mint. iv. Play: EX vinyl should still play NM. i. Vinyl: A lot of people still call this grade NM. At this grade the normal wear begins to show, but only slightly. VG7 vinyl has multiple paper scuffs from sliding in & out of the sleeve, these have no effect on the play. There will also be some very faint scratches, the kind where the record has to be held at the right angle in the light to see. These have no (or very minor) effect on the play. ii. Cover: The cover may have slight ring wear where the ink is beginning to wear, but not in a complete circle & there's no other surface wear evident. There may also be some light wearing of the ink or light feathering in small spots around the edges, but not an entire edge. iii. Label: The label shows multiple spindle marks, but there's no wear otherwise. iv. Play: A VG7 record will only have a few faint ticks or pops that are not noticeable unless you're listening for them. i. Vinyl: Your average to slightly better than average used record. The vinyl has some obvious light scratches, but looks like it will still play without any problems or surface noise, and it still retains much of the original gloss. ii. Cover: The cover has a complete ring, light overall surface wear and some of the edges may have the ink worn off completely, or it may have a couple lightly creased corners. iii. Label: The label has multiple spindle marks & light wear beginning to show around the spindle hole. iv. Play: VG records still play excellent, with none to minimal distraction from pops & ticks. i. Vinyl: Your average to slightly less than average used record. The vinyl has multiple light scratches, it looks like it might play noisily but plays better than expected. Still retains about half the original gloss. ii. Cover: The cover has light ring wear, but the overall surface wear is also very obvious. There are edges that have the ink worn off completely, and may be weakening, but no splits, or very minor splits. iii. Label: The label shows obvious wear around the spindle hole, multiple spindle marks, and maybe some light overall surface wear. iv. Play: VG5 vinyl still plays very good with only minor distracting noises in the quieter passages & between the songs. i. Vinyl: A very worn, but still playable record. The vinyl has multiple scratches of varying degrees of severity, it looks like it will play noisily and does. I generally will not sell (or collect) records in this grade or lower, unless they are very difficult to find any better. Commons in this condition go in the garbage. ii. Cover: The cover shows heavy ring wear & surface wear. There may be a split seam or two, or other minor damage, but the cover still holds the record in. iii. Label: The labels have obvious overall surface wear or ring wear, as well as wear around the hole & multiple spindle marks. iv. Play: A VG- record still plays completely through and at no time is the surface noise at a level that totally distracts from the music. A Fair record has major wear on everything, the maximum wear in which the record is still minimally usable. Trashed, but may still play through. Only sentimental value, no monetary value. Someone found it in a dumpster (or a swamp). The high bidder at the end of the auction will receive an e-mail within 24 hours detailing total amount, mailing address and payment instructions. Winning bidders are expected to respond, within an acceptable amount of time, to the e-mail with their mailing address as confirmation of receipt and acknowledgement. If payment or confirmation of winning bid is not received within 30 days following end of auction a second e-mail notifying the bidder that payment or confirmation has not been received as well as stating negative feedback will be left if nothing is received in 30 days from date of e-mail. 3. Payments With Lack of Information Payments received without information stating what the bidder has won and where to send it, written legibly, then payment and item will be held until 30 days past the auction or inquiry by the bidder. Payments received with incorrect amount of payment will be sent back to bidder or held until additional amount is received, at our discretion. International buyers are welcome to purchase items from us on eBay. International buyers are welcome to send cash, registered if desired, to our address. International buyers may also want to use the services provided by BidPay. We have had bidders use this service to send money orders negotiable in the United States from almost any country in the world. Checks (cheques) from any country other than the United States will not be accepted. Paypal is not accepted under any conditions. If a bidder attempts to pay via Paypal, we are not responsible for the consequences, and have no recourse in getting the bidders money back. We will not be held responsible for the actions of Paypal or the buyer who tries to pay us through this service. For all transactions the preferred method of payment is a pre-paid money order mailed directly to us. International buyers must get a money order draft for U.S. funds if they choose to send a money order. BidPay offers a service to buy a money order and send them directly to a seller right from the internet. This may be an option for domestic buyers as well as overseas buyers. Same as Money Order. Cash is sent at the discretion of the buyer. We are not responsible for cash lost in the mail. We only accept personal checks from bidders with a feedback rating over 25 with no negative feedback. We reserve to right to not accept a buyer's personal check at our discretion. A rejected personal check will be sent back to bidder and an e-mail will follow. We expect payment in an acceptable form within a reasonable amount of time as described in the terms on this page. If a buyers check is returned due to insufficient funds, we will first notify the bidder and expect a confirmation that we can try to cash the check again. If we do not receive confirmation, we will leave feedback and notify ebay. Due to the postal increase of July 1, 2002, we will no longer be using Priority Mail as our preferred shipping method. To save money for the buyer, we will now be using Media Mail as our preferred method. Our basic rates
are listed on the following website: All shipping charges are non-refundable. 2. International Shipping Rates We can ship via airmail, which takes up to a week to get to destination, or surface mail, which takes up to 8 weeks to get to destination. For one or two records, airmail is about $12 to $15, for surface mail, $5 to $7. These are general estimates, prices vary depending on exact location. Upon completion of a sale, we will call the post office for a rate quote, then e-mail the winning bidder. We will also ship Media Mail (Parcel Post) by request. We will not ship international shipments with other carriers. We do not guarantee accuracy of prices quoted to us by the postal service. All shipping charges are non-refundable. We charge $.75 handling on each order shipped within the U.S., $1.25 handling on orders outside the U.S. This covers the cost of tape, packaging materials and the gas for the trip to the post office. Insurance is available by request. We are not responsible for damaged goods that occurred during shipment. If a parcel is insured, the shipper, in most cases, USPS, is responsible. Insurance is available by request at buyers expense. All claims for lost parcels are handled by the postal service and not the responsibility of the seller. As we do not guarantee accuracy with heavier or international postage quotes, we will refund significant overage of $5 or more upon request of the buyer. This is the only case in which postage will be refunded. Positive feedback will be left for every transaction, but with our busy schedule it may be a few weeks before this happens. Negative feedback will be left for every uncompleted transaction where the bidder (1) backs out, (2) never sends payment, (3) unable to complete transaction within a reasonable amount of time, typically 60-90 days after end of auction. E-mail reminding the bidder of their obligation will be sent within 30 days of end of the auction if neither payment or response is received. Feedback left in retaliation for negative feedback is not tolerated. We reserve the right to report violators will be to eBay without notice. 4. Responses to Negative Feedback We reserve the right to use the advanced features of feedback, specifically the response and follow-up features, to correct or actions in the case of feedback left in error. Buyers leaving feedback repetitive times in an attack to intimidate this seller will be immediately reported to eBay without notice. All bids placed by the user, whether under various names, will be cancelled. We reserve the right to notify other sellers that a bidder violating eBay's feedback policy has bid on their auctions. 1. Conditions Warranting Return Returns are warranted only on the condition of radical misrepresentation of condition, erroneous report of authenticity of item, or unseen damage to product. Shipping and handling charges are not refundable. Bidder returning the item is responsible for return postage. Refunds will be a postal money order for domestic orders sent first class mail within 2-3 days of receipt of item in question deemed refundable. International refunds will be cash sent air mail back to location. We are not responsible for the time in which the mail takes to get to destination. We are not responsible for items ending during an outage or being extended because of one. In the event one of our auctions is cancelled by eBay, the sale is null and void and there is no winning bidder. We do not conduct sales outside of eBay auctions as we do not have any recourse in the case of aborted or erroneous transactions. "Buy It Now" purchases fall under the same conditions as a completed auction where the bidder using "Buy It Now" is the winning bidder. Website discontinued 9/22/01.
