"There is no remedy for love but to love
more."
If we live long enough, chances are we will have
our share of illusions and frustrations that may undermine our faith in
human nature, including human love itself. We may even have been hurt,
"burnt" by loving too blindly, or erring on the side of generosity.
The temptation to show "tough" love by withdrawing our love
only to teach, no matter how hurtful to us, is very attractive, almost
compelling. But the only remedy for love is to love more.
Lord, I was not born yesterday. I have already experienced love and
hate, and all the grades in between. Some blame me for loving blindly,
for being too foolish. But I cannot help but love again. You are love
incarnate. Just let me love as you have loved and can rest assured that
I can never go wrong.
