If you look back 2000 years to when Jesus was born, the land of Israel was under the rule of the Romans. The life of Jesus centres on the time when the Roman Empire was at its strongest. But eventually in 395 the Roman Empire was to be divided into east and west, with the western provinces falling to Germanic invaders in the 5th century. The demonic spirit within the Roman Empire was never destroyed but passed into the Roman Church which still retains that name and is still centred in Rome. By the Middle Ages Germanic Europe was known as the Holy Roman Empire and was dominated by what were called Prince Bishops, so that it was both a spiritual and a political power. Neither of those powers died, but today both have passed into the European Union through the 1957 Treaty of Rome!
Look at what is happening! To encourage support for the EU, the Council of Europe published a poster identifying Europe with the rebuilding of Babel! After complaints by some Christians, it was withdrawn. BUT in December 2000 they completed a new EU Parliament building in Strasbourg in France - I went to see it - and it is built to look like the Tower of Babel! So they are building the European Union as a model and image of absolute spiritual and political rebellion against God! Challenging God! I'm not talking about 100 years ago, not even about something that's going to happen in the next 20 years, I'm telling you about what has happened by stealth within the last year!
Another indication about Europe is the flag - blue with 12 stars in a circle. The man who designed it was inspired by the 12 stars that in Catholic tradition halo the head of Mary. He still hopes she will be incorporated into the design. So the actual flag is of the `Queen of Heaven' as the Queen of Europe, at the very centre of the EU.
But if you thought that was enough, that's not the end. Even worse than the tower of Babel is the fact that they have chosen another symbol to identify Europe, an image of a woman sitting on a beast - symbolic of both spiritual and political power! There are two parliament buildings for Europe, one in Strasbourg in France, and the other in Brussels in Belgium - both contain murals depicting this woman. And outside the Council of Europe Building in Brussels is a crude sculpture of this evil, scarlet woman, riding the evil beast. Is she the woman referred to in Revelation 17? This symbol of the European Union is printed on stamps, phonecards, currency-it's everywhere. The woman is known from Greek mythology as 'Europa' and literally she has been raped by the beast. Is that how the politicians see Europe? It's demonic! image 3
Can you see what's happening? These images and pictures both from Daniel in the Old Testament and from Revelation in the New Testament are not things 100 years in the future, they have already happened! It is already fulfilled! When you realise that we're talking about something spoken of in Revelation 17 and 18, we're almost at the end of the Book!
In Europe, many believe that the European Union image 2 is an answer to centuries of bloody strife, culminating in two world wars, and that a united Europe is its only hope for peace and prosperity. But is it more accurately the fulfillment of Bible prophecy regarding the Antichrist and the last days before Christ's return?
In December 2000 the EU opened a new 8/12 billion Parliament Building in Strasbourg modelled on the Dutch artist Pieter Brueghel's famous painting, `The Tower of Babel'. image 1 This begs the question - is the EU the spiritual descendent of the original Babel, and is the EU attempting to rebuild what God once destroyed? The Tower of Babel/Babylon in the Bible was a system of world government that seemed good to men, but was in fact raised in opposition to God. When God saw men united against Him, He confused their speech so that they could no longer conspire together in one language, and they were forced to stop building their diabolical politicalsystem - Genesis 11. Later God gave Daniel a vision of world governments descending from this Babylon, through the Medes/Persians, then the Greeks, down through the Roman Empire to today's European State, established through the Treaty of Rome as a restoration of the Roman Empire - Daniel 2;31-44.
We show these things to challenge you to question what is happening and to pray. Bible prophecy is being fulfilled in our day before our eyes, the symbols are a sign for us to see and interpret. Europe in the 1930's did not want to `see' what was really going on. Will we accept the challenge that today we are in the last days and preach the Gospel of God's Kingdom whilst we have time?
Another symbol adopted by Europe, as curious as the Tower of Babel, is the Greek myth of the `Rape of Europa'. This makes us ask - is Europe today being raped politically/financially/spiritually - and by whom?
In every case a wanton woman, Europa, can be seen riding a beast (Rev 17:1-7, note especially from Revelation that the forehead of the woman riding the beast is branded with the name, `Mystery Babylon '). image 3 The mythical story is that Zeus, the father of the gods, spied Europa alone on the beach and lusted after her. He transformed himself into a bull of dazzling whiteness with horns like a crescent moon and lay down at her feet. She climbed on his back and he plunged with her into the waves of the sea before raping her. Europa conceived a son, and after her death she received divine honours as `Queen of Heaven', whilst the bull dissolved into the constellation in the sky known as Taurus.
Brussels and Strasbourg EU Parliaments both contain paintings of the woman on the beast. A related issue may be the massive computer in Brussels called Euro Net, but nicknamed the `Beast', the first computer reputed, to be capable of storing personal data of the entire world population.
We only show these things to challenge you to question what is happening spiritually and to pray. Bible prophecy is being fulfilled in our day before our eyes, the symbols are a sign for us to see and interpret. `Revelation' means revealing, but the demonic happenings in Europe today need to be revealed to the Believers as clear signs of the times we are in. Christ's Return will be great and glorious for the Believer, but we must accept the challenge to preach the Gospel of God's Kingdom to the lost and dying world!
