October 2001 Pray for Our Leader and Believers in Pakistan We received this note from our leader of ministry in Pakistan. If you are watching the news reports from Pakistan then you have some idea of the difficulties going on there now. I personally saw a report from the very city where our friend and leader lives, so they, as well as all believers, are in the middle of hostility right now. He writes Greetings from Pakistan. Thank you for your encouraging response and prayers for Pakistani Christian victims which are effected in Pakistan by Muslims in the result of " TERROR IN AMERICA, " dated 11 Sep 2001. Please continue in prayers because Muslims are still in great anger against Pakistani and American Christians. Muslims look at Christians with their FURIOUS eyes, still their anger against Christian is not cooled down. Many Muslims are discharging their Christian employees and Christian servants from their homes and factories, and many are coming to me, being a christian leader for their help. The fresh and bad news is this Mr. Name of Family lives in Lahore city in a rented house, this is a very poor Christian family . One hand their Muslim owner of the house gave notice to this family to vacate his house because Mr. Name of Family is a Christian . And on the other hand his employer discharged to Mr. Name of Family and his two sons from his factory. Now this family is jobless, homeless. This family has 9 members. Please imagine about this family's sorrowful condition while this family is with out shelter. Mr. Name of Family came to me and told me his sorrowful story with shedding tears and shivering lips. We have a chance to directly help some families right in Pakistan through our leaders efforts. If you would like to give an offering so that this friend and ministry leader, who is well known to many of us, can disburse aid to persecuted Christians, here is your direct opportunity. As usual offerings for special projects like this coming from individuals and local churches that are not Harvest Partners should go through the Helping Hands Ministry. All Harvest Partners churches can simply give to this need as a level two offering designated for the specific need. This can be mailed to - P.O. Box 2910, Cleveland TN, 37320-2910. News From Philippines This week Marvin Eskew (Director of Men's Ministry) and I received a call from a missionary family in the Philippines. I imagine that the conversation we had has been common for North American missionaries all around the globe. There has been Muslim unrest in the Philippines and some of this has been linked directly with Osama Ben Laden's groups. With all that has happened and the knowledge that reprisals will come when the US takes military action, the question was obvious, "What do we do?" Like most, these missionaries (working for another agency) don't want to come home. Even the mother with a child, doesn't want to leave her husband to find safety. They want to do their work in the field, like thousands of others. As Marvin and I hung up the phone it was clear to me that it was easy to give counsel from my safe office, but these families are living in a threatening situation. Could you join me in prayer that missionaries of the gospel all over Asia, Europe, Africa and the Middle East be protected by angel hosts during these trying hours? Thank You! Dan Corbett. General Presbyter Korea Our statistics show that in ten years the ministry in Korea has multiplied 12 times, but that does not tell all of the story. Creative outreach is a mark of Overseer Lee's (Rhee) leadership. He is working with sister churches in the nation that have been drawn to his visionary work. He feels these will fully unite with him in the Church over time. His desire to reach Koreans in the U.S. is still another wonderful effort. Samoa Here is a small work that records a wonderful percentage growth for the decade over 600 percent, which is sixth among our nations. *************************************************************************** |
