In
un mondo dilaniato dai conflitti, dalle diseguaglianze economiche e sociali,
il turismo, prima industria mondiale, può diventare uno strumento
di pace, di aggregazione e di integrazione. In quest'ottica bisogna incoraggiare
e sostenere le organizzazioni e gli operatori economici che contribuiscono,
con i loro viaggi od iniziative, alla comprensione culturale tra
i popoli, alla cooperazione, al miglioramento della qualità dell'ambiente,
alla conservazione dei monumenti e dei parchi naturali. In questa visione
pacifista ed ecologica il turismo diventa un elemento indispensabile per
ridurre la povertà.
