| February 12, 2003 Newsletter Five things we love about friends. 1. Friends are always there for you. Whether you got the haircut from hell or just got kicked out of your apartment, a friend will help you out with a shoulder to cry on or a couch to sleep on -- no matter how inconvenient. 2. Friends will always defend you. Ever feel like the whole world is ganging up on you? You can count on a least one person to be on your side. A friend will always defend your honor in public...even if you're in the wrong! Being indignant on your behalf is what a friend must be when somebody questions anything to do with you. Note to self: While a friend will defend you publicly, in private he or she should be honest enough to let you know if you've taken something too far! 3. Friends are ready sources of cheap labor. It's a great apartment but it needs a big paint job. Problem is, you've already blown the budget forking over first and last month's rent so no way you can hire a painter. No problem! Invite your friends over for a painting party. For the price of a case of beer, you'll have lots of helping hands and some great laughs while your crib gets the once over. 4. Friends will loan you money -- interest-free! A little short on the green stuff until next payday? A friend will always give you an interest-free loan. Just be sure you don't abuse this privilege, however, because you can lose a friend fast if you don't keep up your end of the pay-back terms. 5. Friends will always remember your birthday. This may not sound like much but actually, this is pretty high up there on the list of things that matter. That being said, a friend will respect your wishes when it comes to selecting the mode of celebration. For instance, a true friend would never have a surprise party for you if you've let him/her know you absolutely would hate that. |
