Erik and Sandra's Experience on the Green River.

Erik & his sister, Sandie, were hoping to take a 10 day trip down the Green River, Utah, from just below the Confluence with the Colorado River. Unfortunately, the weather went very sour, and they were forced to abort the trip after only a day. They felt pretty wimpy doing it, but subsequent findings reinforced our decision.

The Photos. . .

      Loading up in Green River.
Note the water is below the end of the ramp, we shoulda' known!

      Re-loading cargo on the sandbar.
Note the only big rock around, providentially right where I pulled out. A rare sunny period between showers.

      The geyser, from the tent.
A bit blurry due to being hand-held in poor light. Apparently it was brought on by an attempt to drill for oil in 1936.

      Our camp, in the morning.
      Sandie in the tent packing.

      The rocks we camped on.
We aren't sure what they are, look like broken teeth!, but they look like deposits from a hot spring associated with whatever causes the geyser.

Looking back on our campsite from the other side.
Camp was on high area left of center.

      Travertine below the geyser.
