Delta Slade Album Journal
Everything you wanted to know and more about Delta Slade's first release!
Day one of recording commenced on August 7. Joe got together with Jordan and Negley to go to Spizatch's house. It was a Sunday, he was late. Refreshed from taco bell, he fiddled with the drums and we got to work setting up the stuff. The rig was more elaborate thanks to more equpiment from Negley. After setting up, the tracks were laid down. Nice feel to everything. The drums were pounding, the bass playing immaculate, the guitar playing orgasmic. Maybe not that nice, but it's nice to use fun adjectives. First song was Wait No Longer, a favorite of Joe's personally. Other highlights were the cover of Voodoo Child and the trippy Acid Jam. The way everything worked was the music was recorded live... one bass track, one guitar track encompassing the lead for most of the songs, and the drums. Nikki T couldn't make it to this session, so it was agreed that Jordan would play his part on the record if time allotted. It didn't, and we couldn't master the record in time. We set out later on to finish the vocals and lay another guitar track down.

The second session for the album happened on thursday, July 25, in the afternoon at Jordan's house. Even though not backed by the full band, Jordan belted out some soulful lyrics in some of the best singing I've heard personally from him. So loud, in fact, was it that his sister wondered what he was doing. (He was wearing headphones so all that could be heard was the voice with no music). Everything went pretty well. A few times Jordan forgot the lyrics, but it was all cool. The acoustic guitar figured more prominently in the mix than I had imagined, but it added more depth to the recordings. Jordan played the guitar parts without hesitation. I think even though the full band isn't present on the CD it will still reflect the songs themselves.

Mixdown began on July 29th, with the first three songs from the sessions done: Wait No Longer, Everything's Gonna Be Alright, and the Acid Jam. A few slip-ups frustrated Joe, but he mixed the songs down without much trouble overall.
On the left is the cover for the album. The four track had broken after mixing "Wait No Longer," "Everythings..." and "Acid Jam," so production was at a halt. After it got fixed, the mixing went great and the album was released! It is now getting a good release in the general public. Good job guys!
