Better Half at Dirty Sock Records
Better Half is:
Becki - Drums/Vocals
Trista - Guitar/Vocals
Amanda - Bass
On October 26, they had played with famed ska band the Distorted Penguins.  The stage lighting loomed over the small room in the Apparition Food Court.  The crowd might not have been fully ready for what Better Half had to offer. The songs are unique; showing a sensibility about the world in which Better Half finds itself, including a sense of humor with a serious side that understands complexities of relationships between people. And who can deny that it's fun? They had also played on August 2, and in front of traffic at Cruise-a-Palooza, but look for more gigs.  Because the future is bright for Better Half. You ain't seen nothin' yet!

In fact, there's so much more going on with the band I don't even know where to begin.  The new year brought a new lineup to Better Half as they parted ways with Becca, guitarist in the band.  They said she "will be missed and not forgotten." They continued playing immensely and writing new songs, including single "Simply" recorded in a complicated session on January 25.
On November 18, 2002, a message on Better Half's website introduced a new member to the Better Half fold: Amanda, who was recruited as the band's bassist.  The addition of a new member to a band can sometimes be troubling, but Better Half seems to be adjusting well.  And why shouldn't they be? Amanda's addition to the band finalizes the lineup that continues to suprise audiences.  It seems as though it was fate for the girls to find another talented musician to finalize their piece of the Better Half.

In East Brady, a place that would seem distant to those who are unfamiliar to the terrain of Western Pennsylvania, Better Half played their crowning glory set... with promises of more stardom to come.  It only marked the beginning that they played to chanting, dancing, and overall enthused fans of Karns City.
In what might have been the most stunning of rides the Butler area has seen, Better Half came and went; after having problems with their bassist Amanda, the band fizzled and called it quits.  They will truly be remembered and missed in the scene, and were an original breath of fresh air for all of us. With the summer coming, who knows what might be next, though.
