| 138 October 3, 2001 Period 7 Thesis America should crack down on Police brutality and corruption. Police brutality can be many things. It can be a malicious beating, or it can be as simple as a racial slur. Either way, it must be stopped. Police brutality shows that some Officers can be deviant. The government uses �The Blue Wall of Silence� to cover up some officers corrupted actions. Justice is not served if police brutality still grows strong within the U.S. When police officers are deviant and brutal, it is often because they feel they have authority. Unjustified brutality shows violence, and usually makes citizens fear police. Sometimes this goes too far, in the way that they may use too much force to capture a victim, thus, occasionally, resulting in death. Most people are not aware of this, and for good reasons. The U.S. Government has created a program called �The Blue Wall of Silence� to specifically cover up Police brutality. It, basically, keeps secrets from getting out into the media about police brutality, by making bribes or settlements with people whom �know too much�. This program shows that the government knows about some police officers corrupted actions, yet still fail to take action. The Blue Wall of Silence threatens the criminal justice system because it lets officers get away free without being charged of anything. These corrupted and violent ways do not serve justice, and accomplishes nothing for citizens. In addition, it actually makes this country worse, and it is a bad example for future law enforcers, and other countries that are thinking about changing their form of government into a democracy. In conclusion, Police brutality is an all around horrible act of corruption. It is a sure sign that some Officers have too much rage. The Blue Wall of Silence shows that the U.S. Government is corrupted in some ways, and no one benefits from it. |
