| Rather than telling you all what my favourite colour is, or what star sign I am I thought I would ask you to submit questions in my guestbook so you can find out the things you'd most like to know. Please feel free to ask me anything, just sign my guestbook. "What is the average ARA stance on parasites, kill it or keep it?" Submitted by Brierley I can't speak for other animal rights activists, but I personally leave flies, wasps, moths and other insects alone. I de-flea my dog as it would be cruel not to. We have mice in our utility room at home but they are not causing any harm so I leave them alone. I don't like mouse traps or anything like that, I am not a big fan of rats and I am aware that they spread disease but none have hassled me so I have never felt the need to kill them. I think that in general animal rights activists leave well alone. "Are you a vegan/vegetarian? Why / Why not?" Submitted by Lauren I am a vegetarian and have been for a number of years. I do wish to become a vegan but so far have found the alternatives pretty nasty. A friend of mine called Roseanna works on a farm and she told me a lot about cows and put my mind at rest over my concerns. She made me realise that I don't have to have dairy that directly or indirectly caused pain to animals. She recommended I buy my dairy from a source that I know is trustworthy. That is what I am currently trying to locate. "How long have you been trying to help pets out?" Submitted by Lindsey For as long as I can remember. By rights, I should be terrified of dogs as I have been bitten that many times when I was a child. It may be because my Nan always took care of stray dogs or simply because I was brought up around animals. I do however, try to look after all animals, not just pets. "What are your favourite types of pets?" Submitted by Lindsey I am a dog person but I adore cats too, they are beautiful and have such character. I admire their independence. I have cared for birds, rodents, dogs and goldfish but I do have a soft spot for dogs. "What do you like to do for fun?" Submitted by Lindsey I love to spend time with my dog, Lucky, I spend time on the Internet, I like to read, shop, watch films, hang out with my family, I am interested in astronomy and meteorology also. I will turn my hand to anything really. "What is your stance on the WWF (World Wildlife Fund) ? Keeping in mind that the WWF was funded by trophy hunters p*****d at poachers for hunting illegally." Submitted by Krista I always thought that the WWF was a standard animal rights organisation, I don't know much about their history but now I am interested to find out. Whatever the motives for setting up the organisation I am glad that it is around as it not only wants to help animals, but world conservation too. Hunters and poachers... I don't approve of either but if something good can come out of it then I do approve of the WWF. "What is your stance on the WWF supporting the killing of animals such as elephants?" Submitted by Krista To be honest I didn't know about this, WWF is an organisation I know little about. I mainly work with IFAW, it is very rare that I will hear about anything with regards to WWF. If they are advocating the killing of animals I would very much like to know why. Euthanising due to illness is acceptable, as far as I'm concerned but allowing people to kill elephants as sport or for ivory is not acceptable. I will investigate this matter further and possibly do an article on the site about it. "What is your greatest fear?" Submitted by Beth Being alone. Not finding someone to share my life with and not being able to fulfill at least some of my dreams. "A question about your puppy, when did you bring her into your family and was it love at first sight?" Submitted by Niki Lucky is actually 14 years old, are you suprised? Most people are. She is very small and looks great for her age. I first met Lucky nearly three years ago at my local dogs home. I fell in love with her and she came home with me soon after. Yes, it was love at first sight. For me anyway, Lucky was a bit apprehensive at meeting somebody new but soon warmed to me. She had lived with an elderly person before I think and must have been quite spoilt as she is something of a diva!" "How long have you been into animal rights?" Submitted by Priscilla I joined group at senior school (High School) it was called Youth Action Group. Me and my time focused on animals. We discussed the various issues within animal rights and how we could do something about it. We mainly docused on animal testing at the time but it gave me a taste and I've never looked back. |
