Wrevelations: Wrestlecade II: The Extreme Preview

By Joe Sammur

Yes, yes, I know, it's been awhile, but what can I say? And, does it even matter what I say? The only thing that matters is that the EWA's first Pay-Per-View since it's resurrection is upon us, and I've got a full preview for it. So, let's get on with the show...

First up, the triple threat matchup that has to be one of the best show openers in a long damn time. Matt Logerfo, John Iley, and Paranoid Perry were barely able to coexist long enough this past Wednesday, and now they get the chance to simply tear the hell out of one another. Logerfo may be the best wrestler of the bunch, but with his actions on Warfare, we may see Iley and Perry actually teaming up for a little bit of revenge. Then again, with the heat those two built up in the Academy, they just might ignore him altogether, and try and wail away on one another first. Either way, this is a solid start to the PPV, showcasing three young talents that could all quickly rise in the EWA.

Next up, the Television Title tourney continues, on a PPV? Oh well, that's just how it goes. Johhny the Homicidal Maniac and Loco Martinez are both crazy sonuvabitches, as witnessed by both their names and their matches, and I wouldn't be surprised if this match quickly dissolved into a Hardcore bump-athon. Of course, that would probably mean that the ref would have to be down and out for awhile to prevent the DQ, but I do think either man is above "accidentally" hitting an EWA offical with a chair. Loco has been hyping up his first EWA matchup, and this should be an excellent matchup to watch, considering the styles of both men are nothing but crowd-pleasing. As for the winner, I see a solid match, with Johhny moving on to the next round... I'm just curious as to how Saul Masters will figure in...

Uh oh, this is gonna get brutal. If you happened to be lucky enough to grab tickets to Wrestlecade before the 30-minute sellout, I suggest you get your voices ready, because you'll be "OH!"ing "AH"ing and "HOLY SHIT"ing throughout the entire Venom/E-Nuff matchup. Venom is on a high right now, with the return of FTW, and I'm not sure if I see that momentum getting stopped at Wrestlecade. Don't get me wrong though, E-Nuff will put up a fight, and I wouldn't be surprised one little bit if he came out the victor, but Venom has been unstoppable as of late, and I just see FTW getting the nod in this one.

And here's another match that will be sure to get a crowd reaction. Laura's gone heel, and in a big way, and with Mr. Gates escorting her to the ring, the United Center's foundation is in for a rough ride, as the cement will be shaking and quaking from all the boo's raining down on the two. She takes on who is very arguably the best Lightweight in the circuit, Jonathon Storm with the Lightweight title on the line. Storm is an interesting story, because he has had large out-of-circuit success coupled with everything he's done in New York, and still he's not as respected by the EWA following as maybe he deserves to be. A win here and a decent reign as Lightweight champ might be exactly what he needs to boost himself past the midcard, and to be honest, I just don't see Laura as Lightweight champion. My pick is Storm in a good but not great match.

Azmyth and Spiral are both great wrestlers, and they are both relatively untested in the EWA, so this match could be full of surprises. Spiral is one of my favorite wrestlers and personalities though, so hopefully I see him come up with the win.

If "The Extreme Sequel" had to applied to any match at the PPV, it'd be Sean Boden v. Sigel Pheonix. The last time these two men met, they tore the house down inside a Steel Cage. Now that they've both established themselves with solid stables and good characters, this looks to be another classic matchup. Boden has been beating everyone recently, including two wins over Pheonix, one at Clash, and the other in New York. With Sean Sanders leaving the circuit though, Sigel needs a new angle, and the Hardcore title may just be it. Personally, I think Gates knew Boden would be good, but not this good, and now after pushing him to the Hardcore Title, he finds himself trying to get him to the Heavyweight belt. Already, Sean's appeared in main event after main event, and wowed the crowd each time, proving he belongs in the big matches. Will he retain, and continue to work wonders for the Hardcore Title? Will Sigel become the one who finally dethrones him, alonging Boden to go straight to the top? This one is completely up in the air, and should definitely not be missed.

At first, I thought it would be near impossible to follow the last match in terms of excitement, but once again I am proved wrong by the EWA booking staff. Jack Daniels and Evan Douglas will no doubt put on a show, and this one could easily go either way. When Douglas performs, he really performs, and a match involving the Drunken One is always worth spending some money to see. Once again, a tough call to make, but I see Jack coming up with a win, simply because he's done, I think, more for the regrowing EWA than anyone else on the roster, and he's gonna get the push to back it up.

Wow. That's all I can say. The big four-way tag match for the #1 contendorship is as good as anything that the MTT2 is packing, and this should be one for tag team enthuisants to drool all over. First of all, despite their no-show last week, The Hollywood Blondes are an incredible team, and they know how to work together, which will be vital in this matchup. Long Island Hardcore on the other hand, is sometimes hindered by the fact that sometimes can't quite cooperate. Not only that, but considering their taste for pre-match alcohol exceeding that of Jack Daniels, it's no shocker that they'll probably end up wrestling hung over, or, still drunk. Their natural talent and ability may carry them through though, as long as Camel can try and keep them in line for awhile.Speaking of LIHC, the third team seem to have their number. That's right, The Latino Powers are gonna be here, and they are in my mind, the easy favorites to win. They ruled the tag scene in the NPWA until it closed, and I have yet to see a team that they cannot consistently defeat. In fact, a lot of people are already writing them in as the next EWA Tag Champions. Matt Hoffman and Jaron Ryze might have something to say about that though, as they team up to form Rated X, and enter as the last team in the matchup. Hoff is arguably the best wrestler/athlete in the match, and Ryze is no slouch himself. Again, a definite possibility to win, and probably the most likely team behind the Powers. This match is a tough bitch to call, but if my money had to be put somewhere, it'd be on Kage and Haven (uh... I mean the Latino Powers) or Hoff and Ryze.

The Intercontinental Belt inside a Steel Cage with Shawn Copeland and The Golden One locked inside? Oh yeah, this is gonna be good. TGO tore through the Intercontinental tourney to snag the belt, and he'll be damned if he doesn't put up a fight for it. Both men are talented enough to carry the belt, and it's definitely a judgement call as to who will win. It is not a judgement call, however, as to whether you should or shouldn't watch this match. It's gonna be awesome! As if the previous matches weren't enough, this one is sure to spill some crimson bodily fluid, and spread it all over the damn cage. Copeland... TGO... the only sure winner is the fans who happen to watch.

Haven and Kage return to battle Jonathon Storm and a wrestler of his choice. Who is this wrestler? Unfortunately, The Dirtsheet couldn't come up with the secret identity, as both Storm and the EWA are keeping it quiet. Loco Martinez, fellow NYSWFer? Michael Trey, the other Lost Boy? Shawn Hunter, reconciling? We can only speculate. No doubt that the mystery man will be the deciding factor though, as not only do Kage and Haven not have time to prepare, but all three other men will have previously wrestled, and a pair of fresh legs can easily turn the tide of the match. Another great tag match, but depending on the partner, the four-way may be a better view.

Ah, the main event, here we are at last. The EWA Heavyweight Title has been passed around like a cheap joint, but with his win over Sean Boden, Erik Draven seems to be the man that can hang on to it for more than a few weeks. He goes up against a man that can easily strip him of that belt though, in Cold Harding Cash. Cash was of course the first man to win the belt, on the first Warfare of the reformation, before dropping it to Raven, who dropped it to Draven. Likely the match of the night, as the main event should be, Draven v. Cash is gonna come down to who wants it more. Does Draven want to hang on to the belt more than Cash wants to become 2-time Champion? That question, along with many more, will be answered at Wrestlecade II: The Extreme Sequel, so be sure to set your VCR's, clear your day planner, and lock and bolt the doors, because if you miss this one, I will personally pay $50 to have you killed! Till then...

It's a great time to be a wrestling fan.
