Sentilating Synopsis

By Terrance McPhilly

It seems like an eternity since we were last together folks, but finally another report for all the dedicated wrestling fans out there this week, who have had nothing short of a week filled with shocks, surprises and pretty much anything that hasn't been nailed down. For example, the solid booking of the NPWA has produced two cards, that are filled to the brim of dream matches...*Anybody else chomping at the bit to see Draven/Smirt v Wood/Willmott?*. Not to mention the return of Tryst against Sean Boden, Matt Hoffman and Kanyon, Venom and Jack Daniels, it's never been a better time to be a wrestling fan. We haven't even looked at the NYSWF, and it's new World Champion, The Dark Messiah, the word was that Loco Martinez would become champion, but he was upset by Nightmare in the Semi-Finals, in an event that quite frankly, shocked this reporter. More on that a bit later on, but firstly, and most primarily, the EWA, and it's first card in close to a year and a half...
...Well what a show, 'Cold' Harding Cash surprising us all by defeating Erik Draven and Jack Daniels to become World Champion, thanks to Electra showing her true colors and aligning herself with Raven? I don't know what the hell that's all about, but it's definitely something that we should find more about in the weeks to come. I can't mention the EWA card without giving props to Kelvin Hailey for the classy thing he did, by helping to promote the EWA, along with Sean Sanders, both men are true professionals, and deserve the recognition they get, their arrival certainly aided the EWA in it's quest to get back on top. How about Sean Boden though, a man that's been in a bit of a slump of late, managed to pull out a hardcore title victory against Nukeman, and believe me, I've seen Nukeman in some incredible matchups, and his title shot against Cash in a week is extremely well earned, should be a great one. In other EWA news...Phoenix Dark's impressive victory over EWA veteran KG has got a lot of people talking, what a win to pick up on your debut, that brings the rookie to Sean Boden and the hardcore championship this week. This match has the makings of a classic written all over it, Boden is coming off a shocking win, as is Dark, but the question burns, which man is going to walk away hardcore champion? Can the rookie pull out another shocking upset...the odds are against him this time in my book though. That brings us to the Intercontinental title tournament, eight solid hands, competing for one of the richest prizes in the EWA, with names like Haywood Jublome, The Golden One, Bazooka Joe and of course Raven involved, it's going to make for some high stakes matches in the coming weeks. The main event this week just happens to be one of them, with Bazooka Joe and The Golden One competing for position in the tournament, Joe's improved so much in recent months, and TGO hasn't been active in quite some time, this should be a true test to see, just who wants the title more. The EWA is definitely back, and in addition to the solid show and cards that we've seen, take a look at the rumors and gossip that is circling around the circuit about the EWA...
- Triple H apparently had a huge contract dispute with the EWA, and decided that he wasn't welcome, packing up his bags and leaving the airport. Where he's going, nobody knows, but in the frame of mind he seemed to be in, he wasn't at all pleased...
- So what's the story with Raven and Electra...does anybody really know. The rumor circulating is that Raven has apparently mind wiped Electra, and got her to turn on Jack Daniels after so long. Raven, the enigma has the World talking as to what exactly this situation is about, but Raven will not tell us until..."He's good and ready".
- Rumor has it, a former EWA champion is returning to show Harding Cash, that to be a champion, you need to do more than talk the talk! What am I talking about...you'll see in the coming weeks.
- Duane Gates has been seen talking to a young man whose never made an appearance in the EWA, but once he does, will almost certainly make an impact. Inside a few weeks, the entire roster has a young man that by the conclusion of this Summer, will be the name on everybody's lips, on their tails and this time -- he's not in it for making friends!
...What about the NYSWF then, the story of the week being The Dark Messiah, the recent academy graduate that now stands at the top of the federation that has housed legends such as Smirtdogg, Grady Smith, Haywood Jublome, Dredd and Jack Daniels. Now add to that list of names on that belt...The Dark Messiah. It's incredible how much things can change inside a few months, when it was only recently a few months ago that Matt Hoffman and Grady Smith were the names that were around that title belt, and now athletes like...The Krow and Loco Martinez? It's a scary situation is it not, when it was only a few months ago, the same names were competing over the Junior Heavyweight championship. Corey, I must stress that you PUSH SPIRAL AND SIGEL PHOENIX however, two men that have created an awesome feud from nothing, and have created some fantastic television, two athletes that can make that title worth something even more. Bear that in mind, Spiral was a fantastic champion this time last year, a fighting champion, and look at the man, since then he's done nothing but mature...please for the sake of the company, allow Spiral to once again run for the title, as he's one of the few talents that hasn't been picked up by the other hungry federations. Is it just me, or does Virus seem to improve each and every week, this is a young man that is DEFINATELY one to watch, he may not be up there 100%, but his work ethic and desire, are nothing short of extraordinary. Then the Academy, and a shocking piece of news that developed, 'Red Hot' Ray Willmott is going to wrestle in the Academy...no, you don't need to adjust your specs. Apparently, Willmott was so peeved with a competitor down there by the name of 'Cold Heart' Shane Carter *who by the way, is going to be a talent to watch for the future* having an ego below, that he challenged him to a one-time only match. Now, personally I can't see this being much of a contest, Carter is still young and very inexperienced, and Ray has almost three years on him, but it certainly should allow the full potential of Carter to be unleashed, and to see what this young man has inside him. That is certainly a big story down at the Academy, and should be quite a ratings drawer for the training session next week. Not to mention the "loser leaves" match between Kevin Rampage and Johnny Bomb for the title, someone's got to go, and when you've got two of the best workers in the Academy going for the title, something has to give, one is going but whose it going to be. The smart money's on Bomb, he already owns a victory over Rampage, defeating him for the Junior title little over a week ago, but now this one is about careers, both making and breaking them. I can't wait for this match, and seeing just who is the better man. There isn't much in the way of skepticism in the NYSWF at the moment, it's been quite dormant on that front, but what we have got, I'll share with you right now...
- Martinez supposedly lost his smile and had his heart broken when he lost on the chance for the title, but you can bet with that man being one of the top talents down in the NYSWF...he's going to be running with that championship soon enough. He's a candidate for the future no question.
- Is the situation between Phoenix and Spiral solved, somehow I doubt it, seeing as both men are like kindred spirits. In fact, I think it's safe to say that the HATE is only just beginning to burn...
- With the return of Execution and Jason Phoenix together as a tandem, it makes you wonder, what these two young studs can pull off, they got lost in the shuffle slightly the last time they were around, but now has never been a more ripe and opportune time to show the World exactly what they are capable of. I see tag team gold in the future -- Whisper and Virus certainly have a big problem.
...Last and by no means least, the NPWA -- the one everybody is talking about. Angela Chang has already provided us with two solid, back to back shows, including the SHOCKING return of Smirtdogg, an athlete we presumed dead, but now found, and my God is he pissed! We see Smirt return to the ring tonight, teaming up with Michael Draven to take on Haywood Jublome and the man who likes to refer to himself as 'Pure Sickness' Ray Willmott. The heat for that one match is astronomic, the hatred between Draven and Willmott for that sickening incident last year, the classic, competitive rivalry that exists between Smirt and Willmott, the betrayal of Jublome against his own best friend Smirt, and of course, the personal attacks of Jublome on Draven! How can you not anticipate this one match, it's got the potential to be the show stealer, can you believe that -- a tag team match acting as a show stealer. Apparently, this is a mere build-up to Draven and Willmott next week for the TV title, and ... well, we know what those two athletes are capable of, and it won't be pretty. Not to mention the DFR / Armageddon situation that still remains, and it's brought back to the surface again in a baseball bat match between Venom and Jack Daniels. Both former champions, television and world respectively and both looking to get back into contention, but the brutal aspect of this match, is not going to be for the weak at heart, my guess is -- this won't be the sex that's been promised by DEVine entertainment! What about that sick bastard Tryst, returning to action to fight Sean Boden at Malice, I mean for the love of God, you want to talk a tall order, you've got it, Sean Boden is a fantastic athlete, but Tryst is on a completely different plain, to almost any wrestler you care to nominate. You want to talk sick, this match has the implications of that and then some. Kanyon and Hoffman, hardcore rules, can anybody say -- UPSET in the making, sure the Marcus Hailey / Chris Kanyon match last week came with a shocking result, but Matt Hoffman, a guy that has been overlooked pretty much all of his career, has the opportunity to break Kanyon, coming off a pretty shocking situation between he, Venom and his wife. Hoffman's got a lot of opportunity at Malice to take down Kanyon and move straight up the ladder of contention, and my God, imagine where he could go from there. Certainly, Malice and Sabotage have all the makings of being worthy follow-ups, if not successors of this past weeks shows for the NPWA. You want to talk dream matches, the cards are brimmed fill with them, and I for one can't wait to see how things turn out this weekend. As for rumors surfacing within the company...there's a few for sure...
- Apparently, there is a gimmick that will be added to the match between Willmott and Draven for the TV title next week. We've seen both participants involved in Ring of Fire matches, we've seen them in Last Man Standing matches, we've seen them in Lumberjack matches, and even solid steel cage matches. The question remains...how do you top this? If anyone can -- it's Angela Chang and DEVine Entertainment!
- Could the Draven brothers have finally reconciled after everything they've put each other through? It certainly seems they'll have too, thanks to the contract of their dearly departed mother. However, the question of the hour is...just who will aid these two men, because there's no way they can do this alone. Perhaps a councilor, or perhaps, a dear old friend from the past...
- Kanyon's wife is pulling through in the hospital, her status certainly seems to have improved since the last we heard, but Kanyon is nowhere near close to being done with Venom! Apparently, Kanyon's temperament was completely off the page, and a lot of his close friends have stated..."I haven't seen Kanyon like this in a long time". I think the jokes are off for Venom and Kanyon...
- Devine Intervention is already beginning to take face, rumors are abound that we will see Haywood Jublome and Michael Draven, in a match that will not be disclosed at this time, Venom and Kanyon are also slated to be aboard this jam-packed card, and Marcus Hailey v Erik Draven is also being given the nod by the guys in the top slots. However, a contender for the heavyweight title has yet to be decided, and of course, Draven and Wood being a Television Championship match is always the possibility, depending on what happens next week against Willmott. However, this looks to be an event you don't want to miss on June 24th!
- A figment of Willmott's past seems to be haunting him in the NPWA, Willmott has apparently been shaken up these past few days, bumping into people and looking over his shoulder every few seconds. Could somebody finally have Willmott fearful...there'll be more on this situation the moment we receive information!
...So on that note, that brings us to the final section of the Sentilating Synopsis this week, just which athlete has earned the recognition of being the Wrestler of the Week. Who, in my eyes, has shown me so much guts, and intestinal fortitude this week, through all the odds and through all of the problems associated on the road and wherever you go. A young man I've been incredibly impressed with so much, that he almost became the wrestler last week, but was just snared out by Venom. The young athlete that goes by the name of...EVAN DOUGLAS!
Since the IWF, this young man has had a metamorphosis in this sport, he's gone from a poor showing in the NYSWF, into one of the top dogs in the NPWA/NEWF! Evan's transformation has had a lot of people playing guessing games around him, just where is this young man going to strike next, just who will he be facing, and just how will he do in that match. His disqualification victory over Bazooka Joe, showed the World what this young man can get done inside the ring, his neck and neck match with Haywood Jublome, one of the greatest wrestlers to ever lace boots at The Final Countdown, had people like myself, genuinely excited. This young man, is nothing short of a prodigy in this business, his desire to work and be a star is so high and completely in the right place. It's just amazing how far he's come in such a short space of time, he goes from opening cards, to being a megastar and a very well respected member of Armageddon. He's a former NEWF Television Champion and with the amount of fantastic matches we've seen him in lately, it's a self assured guess that Evan is destined for greatness in this business. "So you want to be a champion?"...you're damn right Evan does and then some. A highly deserving individual for this weeks spot as...Wrestler of the Week!
