PRESS RELEASE: NPWA Ceases Operations

JUNE 22, 2001 - Ennis, TX.

DEVIne Entertainment Inc. CEO Angela Chang has folded the National Pro Wrestling Alliance, on the heels of the departures of superstars Erik Draven and Venom from the company.

Chang sent a written memorandum out to the staff and wrestlers of the NPWA. Our sources were able to contain a copy, and below is said copy.

All day and night the Dirtsheet will feature our analysis on this situation, and what it bodes for everyone involved. Keep checking periodically throughout the day.

NPWA Peeps,

I'ma just cut to the chase here. After yesterday's fiasco, something sprung up in me that my client Zero said A LOT in his interviews but something I never actually felt until now -- apathy.

And in now feeling this way about wrestling, I have no other option but to close the National Pro-Wresling Alliance do to my completely exhausted lack of interest. Why? Well come on, when I took over the NEWF from Chris Best, it wasn't something I did for myself, I did it because I didn't want to see the decent establishment that he built up in this circuit come to a untimely demise just because he didn't have the means to run it anymore. I mean, that would suck wouldn't it? After all everyone including myself put or tried to put into it. Nobody else stepped up to at least try, so I felt it was something that I had to do.

Anyhow, myself, and with the help of Michael Simurda the NEWF was changed over to the NPWA. And it was there, we promised that whatever the members of the fed put into the fed, we would give back. Sure, I know that myself or Michael didn't always do everything 100% right, nor did we ever try to prove we were right wrong over anyone else's opinion. We just tried to create a fun working environment that everyone could at least live with With that, just as anyone else in the fed did, myself and my colleague/best friend spent hours upon hours putting everything we had into making the federation a fun filled success. And with that, it go a little bigger, and more wrestlers flocked to it and for the most part I think everyone had a pretty good time, and enjoyed working here. The creative participation is all the evidence we need of that.

It's been said a million times before this, but I'll say it again, with a federation with that kinda progression at that rapid of a pace, it becomes harder and harder to accommodate everyone's needs at every possible second and still have a life. Despite that, I and Simurda did our absolute best to try to keep everyone happy. Apparently from seeing Venom's actions yesterday, that just wasn't good enough. I truly don't see honor, dignity, or respect, for ANYONE involved in this business, when a wrestler or wrestlers feel enough conviction to come onto one of the fed's boards on its website, bashing, cursing, slurring, insulting, the fed heads and other wrestlers they see fit like an enraged lunatic without trying to iron out problems like normal people do (which I know we all are when feel like being it) Just because he or she feels that something isn't going for the better for them? And for what? Over one match?

I thought that at this circuit's age, we were all behind this kind of crude, nonproductive, and dividing behavior because in the end, it does nothing but tear us all apart as a stable but in the last 2 days I've seen things that would surely say otherwise. How's that old saying go? "A leopard just can't change it's spots" Whether that's the right statement or not, you all get the point I'm trying to convey here. And in that sad, pathetic quote that seems to remain a steady fact about this whole circuit, I've decided it's just all trivial blasphemy, nonsense crap that I can't be apart of any longer. I'm apologizing now in advance to all my friends and would be friends because of this little "goodbye". But it's just what's best for me though.

However, I do know that the NPWA's closing shop means that a lot of wrestlers that are willing to deal with the darkness and negativity that surrounds the competitiveness of this circuit are without a e-fed home. Well, there's two other fed across the water that would be happy to have you guys.

There's the New York State Wrestling Federation [NYSWF]. I know a lot of people have serious issues on how Corey Collins runs business -- but he's still done something that any of us that have run fed's hasn't done. Kept the ship afloat. That place is stable and will probably never go anywhere. To all the new people in this circuit, I strongly suggest that the place you go, since the NYSWF has notably become the building ground for new talent and faces. Hey, it's where I got started.

If you're interested, there's contact info at their website: New York State Wrestling Federation

And then there's of course the EWA. Lots of history there The fed is headed up by Duane Gates and John Solley. Both of these guys have had years upon years of experience as well, running feds. I don't even need to mention that this is probably where the more established members of this circuit and the gone NPWA would want to head. But you newer people would probably want to flock here too if you want to test your green skills against some of this circuits veterans.

Their addy is: EWA Enterprises, Inc.

Anyhow that's it. This is Angie Chang signing off for the last time. Hey, maybe we'll even meet again? In our dreams? Or the next life? Who knows

Sincerely,
Angela L. Chang

Once again, we at the Dirtsheet promise to keep you informed on the latest happenings in the wrestling world. We'll have analyses of the situation throughout the day.
