PRESS RELEASE: Erik Draven Quits NPWA
JUNE 20, 2001 - Ennis, TX.
Word has come to us that Erik Draven will NOT be staying out the rest of his contract with the National Pro-Wrestling Alliance. "The ICON" has left the company on bad terms with President Angela Chang and Vice President Michael Simurda.
Apparently, Erik Draven was highly upset with the result of the contest between Marcus Hailey and himself, and felt that some degree of foul play from the front office was involved. Our sources at this time tell me Chang and Draven had an enraged argument right in the center of the locker room, with several wrestlers overhearing the conversation. Near the end, Draven apparently told President Chang, 'Don't book me for the PPV, I'm gone.' Neither Draven nor Simurda could be reached for comment, and representatives for Chang and the NPWA declined to comment.
Erik Draven was defeated on Monday Night Malice by Marcus Hailey in a #1 Contender match for the NPWA World Heavyweight Title. More on this shocking development as the news comes in.
