NEWS RELEASE
Yesterday the Dirtsheet was issued a small statement from EWA about it's signing of Chris Furman as Senior Vice President of Operations. A press conference was held yesterday confirming this, in which Mr. Furman and several top EWA officials answered questions. The President and Owner of the EWA, Duane Gates, was not present at the conference.
Albany, NY -- In a press conference early Thursday morning, Dark Force
Rising Enterprise's CEO and Owner, Christopher Furman, announced that he
will be taking over the vacancy left by John Solley as the new Senior Vice
President of Operations for the EWA, a professional wrestling federation
based out of Muncie, Indiana. This announcement comes just one week before
the EWA is set to bring Wrestlecade II: The Extreme Sequal, it's first Pay
Per View spectacular since the closing of the fed back in 1999.
When asked why he would return back to professional wrestling after a
disasterous three-month run with the United E-Wrestling Federations
Association (UEFA), he stated that he was "unhappy with the way his last
stint in the sport ended..." and that he wanted to "prove that he still has
a few good years of running a wrestling federation left in him."
Furman has been in the business of professional wrestling for over nine
years now in many different capacities. He has been the agent for the tag
team Public Enemy, whom many consider to be the single greatest tag team in
wrestling history and is currently the agent for Grady Smith, a ten-time
former World Heavyweight Champion and another wrestler many feel is one of
the top wrestlers currently in the business. He was also a pioneer in the
behind-the-scenes structure of wrestling federations, opening up one of the
first "modern day" wrestling promotions, the NIWA, back in late-1995. The
federation closed its doors towards the end of 1996. Since then, Furman has
had a hand in running many other wrestling promotions, such as the WWA, CWA,
and the still-running NYSWF.
A press conference between Furman and the President of the EWA, Duane Gates,
is scheduled for Tuesday, July 17 at 10:00am.
