Marking Out

Scuba Steve

I could care less that the NPWA has shut it's doors. I mean, we all should have expected it right? Well, if you're a Cold Harding Cash mark, like myself, you woulda seen it coming. Because Chang did 'hit her period and brought the fed down' as predcited by the first EWA 2k1 champion. And like I said, I could care less this prophecy came true. And why? Because I am sitting at my computer, at my grandparent's ranch estate, on a cool summer night, and after witnessing COTC I know things are still looking up.

I also realise that I told you guys the next time I was here would be featuring part two of my 'Shuffling the Deck' series...which won't happen now. Instead, I'll be back to newsbites and the random column. As I am now. And the one thing or man that struck me to write this column just so happened to be in the most brutal match I have witnessed since Jon Storm/Mr. Bones in the BJBWF/CWF cross over death match. Sean Boden If anything, this may be his peek time. For Boden, it's been truly an uphill battle. He's gotten the shove aside from more promoters and promotions than you can think of. But finally, finally, someone see that he's worth a damn. Finally Duane Gates gave him the ball tonite and Boden took a young upstart by the name of Sigel Pheonix and put on nothing less than a five star match.

Think about this...in the past few weeks, Boden's won the hardcore title, held wins over Raven, Kanyon and Tryst. He's finally looking at a push in NYSWF and now, in the EWA Boden has established himself as 'The Man'. Yes, that's right. While the EWA title continues to change hands like a dirty whore and while two other titles are still up for grabs, Boden has worn the hardcore title from day one. It's like he's finally found his niche'...and I couldn't be happier. If you need any more proof, just watch COTC, and damn you to hell for not taping it if you didn't. Because tonite was Boden's night. If one match made this a five star show, it was simply that one. Now granted, the rest of the card was filled with talent but when Sigel stepped through the steal we knew he could choke at any moment. And we knew that the mass confusion of E-Nuff and Kage could just become a clusterfuck. But not at all. Give credit to Kage and E-Nuff for doing thier roles to perfection and for Sigel to not try and be an upstart and letting things happen. But then give credit to Sean Boden for being a champion we can finally beleive in to keep his title.

He gave it his all tonite. It was a culmination of his career tonite. A stepping stone for Boden. Holy shit moment after holy shit moment. Wicked bump after wicked bump. Hell, after all, it did inspire me enough to sit down and write this article. But in conclusion, I think we can all say, Sean Boden...'he's hardcore!'
Peace
