Matt's tasteful balancing of technical prowess & soaring melody is a staple of the band's bombastic guitar-dominated sound. Equal parts minimalism & guitar heroics, his presence in the band's already diverse creative pool provides a musical intelligence that is rarely heard in much of today's hard-edged acts.
Matt started making musical noise at the age of six, when his parents bought him a drum for Christmas. At age twelve, he began jamming with guitarist/best friend Jimmy Allen (pictured at right), who four years later taught him some chords on the guitar. Matt soon became obsessed with the instrument, turning all of his spare time into practice time. It was during this time that he began learning songs by Ozzy Osbourne, Quiet Riot, Dokken & Kiss. At the age of eighteen, he performed with his first real band, 'High Risk', during school lunch hour. The cheering students filled him with a desire to perform that remains to this day. Matt uses Gibson guitars because he wants the very best.
